And we are back on topic, good.

We surely would all love a RR type figure back in a Notts lineup, doing the ugly stuff effectively consistently week in week out. I'd like to think that a student of the game and tactically astute man like IB realises the importance of this type of player (if he can be acquired or he has someone in the squad who can do it) regardless of how pretty he wants out football to look. What we don't need (and we certainly aren't going to get him at present) is a Mitch Rose he plays that role but isn't good enough at it IMO.

Give it a rest or the cards are coming out.

Laddo, please stop this nonsense of reviewing post quality and judging people's posts all the time. I know you like winding people up but it's interminably annoying and decidedly tedious. This is a football message board, people have opinions and they differ widely from each other. Some are optimists, some are pessimists and pretty much everyone is somewhere in between the two.

Nobody needs their posts rating by another poster all the time. If someone goes beyond the pale I'll deal with it as the board's only remaining 'temporary' (yes ridiculous isn't it?) moderator.

Everyone else, please stop giving oxygen to this stuff.

    Thank you fellow 'Pies. COYP.

Perhaps in a midfield three with Palmer & Francis?
I don't think any of us really knows what he's like but I'd say he's worth a shot if he's fit, probably in place of Francis at the moment. Perhaps Palmer, JOB and Vincent?

Sorry Swale and everyone else. I have been on here 12 years now and I can be a dick and can be alright as you all know by now but this guy boils my blood. I'll stop it now, sorry again.

We can all be dicks from time to time, no problem CF. I'm considering a campaign to FootyMad to introduce a new yellow card offence of 'Temporarily Being a Dick'.

Ha ha good idea like a sin bin. Anyway in regards to centre midfield then Palmer is good, JOB is getting abit past it and Francis isn't ready for the hustle of a non league centre midfield. If we want to go up this season we need a better CM in next to Palmer, if we want to grow Francis and have good feelings about him then we might be here another year. We're too soft and teams run through us too often. I would like to see Vincent then at least we'd know if we think he can make the grade but don't see why we can't get someone like Yates in from a club further up in a loan deal. IB and the owners have to weight up player development versus wanting to get out this league ASAP as maybe they don't go hand in hand with only two promotion spots available.

Yep. Based on the comments of many a Florist fan of late maybe Ryan Yates needs another half season with us to get his mojo back. In reality though, I think it is Vincent time. Hope he's a bit more combative than whoever he replaces. I don't think he's a tough guy though, from what I can glean he's more of a creator than destroyer. Without seeing him we'll never know though!

i'd like us to just line up with a more conventional formation and rely on being a better team than the opposition. the whole overlapping centrebacks is a nice idea and a nice thing to have in the locker, but versus the weaker teams who put 10 men behind the ball and spoil why not just go with something simple like:

    SS
    Brindley/Dion Lacey Cameron Taylor
    Roberts Palmer Vincent/Francis Nemane
    Wooton Ruben

Agreed, I was thinking yesterday I'd like to see Ruben up top with Kyle. He comes alive round the area, can shoot and is a good header of the ball in the area. He would be great up there with Kyle to feed off. Roberts needs to just calm down abit as he's thinking he has to do it all but he doesn't, he needs to relax and get back to enjoying his football as when he's like that he's our best player. Palmer us a good player we're lucky to have him as could play up a level and we need to see Vincent so we know. If not then get a loan in, we need a ball winner and someone who makes the opposition centre mids think before kick off, I've got a job on my hands here as this guy will wipe the floor with me. Francis isn't that man yet and maybe needs to play higher up the leagues as it's brutal down here. I don't mind Nemane from what we've seen so far but needs a run of games. I think we're only one signing and a formation change away from being really good but I don't know half as much as IB I suppose so I do still trust him to do the business with us.
