...and there I’m afraid you have it. The state of this forum in a nutshell...an intelligent and thoughtful contribution is met with ridicule and abuse.

Enjoy your trip Tricky...by the time you return, and possibly before you leave, I suspect this forum might have been reduced to two elderly accountants moaning about what they’ve read in the Daily Mail and watched on ‘Loose Women’.

Well, if this turns out to be true. Who'll claim the credit?
    Boris/The EU/ Starmer?

Covid breakthrough as first wonderpill to treat virus approved: 'Historic day for UK'
A COVID breakthrough has been made as the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has approved a wonderpill to be used in the UK to help treat the virus.

Hmmm, firstly this only seems to be reported in the ‘Express’ so is almost certainly nonsense...and secondly it seems to be the possible result of research by US pharmaceutical company Merck...so, if authentic, their scientists presumably.

According to the AP, I would think Merck can claim credit rather than any of the above

I'm sure they could. But do you really think a politician won't jump on this?

Others are reporting on it now Tricky, so it appears you were right and it is good news, particularly for those who fall into the ‘vulnerable’ category.

Can’t see even our self serving politicians trying to claim the credit though...it is, undoubtedly it seems, the result of US research.

I'll bet you one tries it. Wait and see.
We all saw the EU claim the COVID victory. Someone will.
