Here’s my comprehensive look at how the loan system is becoming an attractive proposition for clubs in the National League as well as those clubs doing the loaning, especially the Cat 1 academy clubs.

    Fantastic analysis as always!

One stat I took from the slides reference Notts is we are the only Club in the division that doesn't have a smaller playing squad than last season, it's exactly the same.

Which suggests the owners/IB have a set structure of how the playing staff should be set up which is 23 players.

Blows out the water all the suggestions on here that we need more players!

I can't download it at the moment, but how does our squad size this season compare with other clubs?

We have a squad of 23 + loans. Our 23 does include Doyle and Tyreace Palmer. Average squad size is just under 22. Southend have the biggest non loan squad of 28, although last season that was more like 45! Dover have the smallest squad at 18.

Thanks, it took a while to compile!

Yeah, was really pleased when I first realised that. Looking at Chessie and Wrexham it couldn’t be more obvious that they’re gambling on bigger squads and big signings for promotion this season.

An insightful thread. Good work bud.

I know Chesterfield were mentioned with regards injuries and size of squad. What they have done is sign players permanently when injuries hit. I recall the Solihull defender signed a couple of months ago and assume there are other examples. What it means is when players are fit the size of the squad becomes bloated.

Seems Chesterfurlough have a squad of at least 32 which is plenty to play a game with a few covid casualties for sure.

I reckon they knew Notts could beat them with the run we are on. If they had Kings Lynn at home, that game would have gone ahead
