Not really BFP, maybe none at all to the standard required if we’re serious about promotion. I think the arrival of Parsons and Richardson shows that IB is totally committed to 3-5-2, and with good reason, we have players who are great for that system...apart from RWB. Richardson looks like the best answer so far. It’s going to help us a tonne to have proper specialists on both sides of the pitch

I agree. The wing back role has evolved beyond recognition. Back in the day a full back was someone who wasn’t quite good enough to play midfield or centre back and was seen as a position that could be filled by average players. The wing back is different. The best wing backs are often the teams most creative players. Look at Liverpool whose full backs provide a tonne of assists.
That’s an area we can definitely improve on. DKE doesn’t offer quality in the final third.

Wish I could be there. Having good balance on both sides might be a revelation today, it could be noticeable from the off.
Saw OGs great stats shown on NC Talk...Taylor can be expected to provide an assist every 5 games, DKE every 30 games (no inclusion of the most obvious stat of all though, no 'goals' from wing-backs in 20 games so far!)

We know this goes back to a recruitment failure in the summer....fixing in December, is that too late or still in time?
If you divide the pitch into 6 equal parts (3 vertical in each half), we've effectively written off the attacking third on the right-hand side (apart from Roberts cutting in from there). Good luck getting promoted doing that.
All fans agree that DKE is a mighty fine full-back for this league, trouble is we committed to a totally different system and then played it for nearly half a season without having the specialist player required!

It's got a whiff of timing issues about it, don't you think? Desperate for cover but Richardson's availability in doubt, or couldn't be secured in time?

btw, I still not sure even IB gets it. In his presser, he talks of getting Parsons as a 'winger', then Richardson as 'more of a full-back'...well if they want full-backs and wingers they can always play 4-4-fluckin-2!
It's not good enough to think we can start with an attacker and then sub for a defender if needed, or vice versa....don't we need a player on the pitch with both attributes all of the time for that position? Yano, a specialist wing-back

As '78 said, the wing-back position is really something else in 2021
A good exercise would be to write out a Job Description for a modern 'Wing-Back' - all the things you need that player to do on the pitch and for the team. It'd probably make your eyes water reading that, and nothing you can just entrust to any old full-back.

Having said all that, I think we may have found the answer with our latest recruit. Let's hope so

Has anyone heard whether his loan is being extended until the end of the season?
I know IB has been in talks with Forest regarding keeping him here, just haven't heard anything recently
I think Stall mentioned it on Saturday that it would be depending on whether Forest could secure Spence from Middlesbrough until the end of the season, which i think has been confirmed or will be confirmed soon

Having Richardson till the end of the season would be a huge boost to our promotion chances. A class player
