And they were a real handful weren't they, Cooper the former gymnast and big number 9 and Currie the big number 10.

That season 88-89 had the potential to be one of our best ever, but it din't quite happen. And it all fell apart for Allan Clarke after that.

Great pairing and complimented each other perfectly .

Steve God rest his soul had the physical attributes and Currie the skill .

Agnew too bad ability and Gwyn Thomas did the hard yards .

Futcher was class at the back with John Beresford .

Massively understated the team that Clarkey put together that season .

Great manager for me was Allan Clarke twice and doesn't always get the plaudits he deserves .

Massive influence on this club .

Huddersfield fans are called "dog botherers" because of a rumoured incident when a Huddersfield fan from Dewsbury was caught shagging a dog.and this incident of bestiality was then attached to all Huddersfield fans.
I couldn't comment on the truth of it but the tale is still told in Happy Valley.

Im sure you know Animal, I could also talk for ages on here about my own great 80's memories of the club. And in fairness I was always a fan of Allan Clarkie, up to a certain time!.

And you mentioned one of my favourite reds players there, in John 'bez' Beresford. And sadly that just sums up this club dun't it, because like we say the club might have been onto summat at the time, but we sold him on for little money to Portsmouth, who were below us at the time.
And yeah I was a big fan of Clive Baker and Steve Agnew and Gwyn Thomas etc, what a good time that was to be a fan along with Cooper & Currie of course lol.

I had been watching the reds for a while before the first pairing of my memory who stood out came together & they were Thomas & Evans , they came at a time when we were at our darkest hour & turned the clubs season & fortunes around , neither of them were big players but they hit it off & new where the onion bag was.
