Wonder if Neil Warnock will stay in the Crown Plaza till it gets rearranged
Tell you what the most annoying thing about this is...
Barnet were quite happy to play Chesterfiepd at home last weekend and get thumped 1-4 with a weakened team.
So it works to Cheaterfield advantage.
We'll have to play them further down the line and they could be in form then.
Very disappointing. We're on a good run of results but it just feels so stop/start, undermining the momentum.
8 of the next 12 league games away, unless Barnet is re-arranged during the sequence to make it 8 in 13 away. Looks pretty tough until the end of March, then we have a very favourable run-in with 4 home games in the final 6 and all of those 6 against sides currently 12th or lower.
Very disappointed with the postponement but not much we can do about it. Share others concerns about the impact on fixture list and consistency etc.
I’m not concerned about the fixture list. Notts excelled at the back end of last season when faced with a fixture back log. IF we get on a role, winning a few games on the bounce would see us fly up the league. Let’s be honest we only have 2/3 games more to play than our rivals over the next 4 months. It’s hardly a disaster.
We have seen over the last few weeks that the Notts squad is stronger than many of us thought.
As it stands a huge proportion of our fixtures are over the next 6-8 weeks and a great opportunity awaits for the players to put pressure on the few teams above us.
Ian Burchnall insists he and the squad won’t let the frustration of another postponed fixture affect their focus on continuing our fine run of form.
We were hoping to honour Colin Slater MBE by making it seven straight wins when we welcomed Barnet to Meadow Lane this evening but the match was postponed due to Covid cases in the visitors’ camp.
But, despite being disappointed, the boss is keeping a level head.
“It’s completely out of our control. The only thing we can do is react in a positive way,” said Burchnall.
“It’s such a shame because it was going to be a great occasion for Colin. A lot of people were coming and we wanted to put on a really good show, but sadly we won’t be able to.
“We have 20 fit players to choose from – only Jim O’Brien is unavailable to play at the moment – and we want to capitalise on that, but we’ll have to wait patiently for Tuesday now.
“Our focus immediately switches to Wealdstone and, as frustrating as it is for everyone, we’ve just got to make the best of the extra time we have to prepare for that game.
“We’ll play an in-house match at Meadow Lane this afternoon – 11 v 11, three 20-minute matches. That will leave us scope to train hard again on Saturday and give the lads Sunday off.”
