I'm a little worried that people in this thread are giving the louts excuses. Poor ref, inefficient stewarding etc. If they are adults, then they are responsible for their actions. There are clear rules about pitch invasion.
I noticed a few Stanley fans apparently being stopped by stewards from invading, thank goodness their wasn't a full away end, it would have been carnage.

Personally I’ve always said that we are too open for fans to get on pitch, but apart from putting higher barriers up I don’t know what they can do

Shame it was vs Accie as there is a bond between the clubs after what their fans did. Even with profuse apologies from RUFC that bond will have been damaged

It's in the FA rule book about points deductions, some can be suspended or carried over. When grealish was attacked the FA specifically sent information to Premier, efl leagues and national leagues about points deduction. Alan Shearer and Neville were adamant that points deductions for criminally invading a pitch was the way to go.
The FA can do what they want if it's in the rule book, if it's not in the rule book it can be added to.
Not saying we will get a points deduction, far from it, more than likely a hefty fine and a written warning, points deduction is however another option. F A considered the fact other fans could invade the pitch as well to alter games.

It also depends who the offending club is.
Rotherham need to be looking over their shoulder for the long arm of the EFL, whereas the likes of Derby would not need to lose any sleep

This is still common practice in German stadiums.
