Three of the top teams are doing better than 2 points/game. We're 10% behind that. One team no doubt will drop out. We've then got to be better than one of the two that don't assuming no-one else comes into the mix, or rather, we have to be that one that comes into the mix.
Before the transfer window closed I was thinking we should have cashed in on what we could and start preparing for a fuller and more solid assault next season.
As for Notts78 - Mark Stallard was there and broadcasting the information. If you have an issue with mannequins take it up with him - he was there and presumably knows a thing or two about football.
If it was 15 aside we could fit everyone us fans think deserves to be in the starting lineup and keep everyone happy
It isn't.
You make one supporter happy selecting a certain player, and the player who misses often makes another fan unhappy. Add in fluidity, favouritism and a clear element of hindsight and it's a tough gig making the big decisions but that's what he's qualified and paid to do.
I did watch the game with my own eyes, and while our movement was indeed very good, Barnet made it really easy for us. I can't remember a game where we were allowed so much time and space on the ball. Brindley, Cameron and Chicksen all had yards of space to carry the ball out of defence, and Barnet retreated rather than challenged. It was a great result and the scoreline didn't flatter us, but you can't deny that the opposition were truly woeful.
Indeed. Can’t complain about anything Notts did last night, can only play the opposition and we completely took them to bits. But Barnet were (yet again, what is it with them?) as bad an opposition team as you’re ever going to come up against. They offered absolutely no resistance at all.
The opposition were poor. We made them look that way. Barnet attempted to press in the first half but failed miserably, hence we were able to get in on the defensive line in numbers. At one point in the first half, I noticed a mannequin stretch his arms out whilst Notts drove at him (2 v 1) and the midfield/attackers were all out of the game.
Obviously I didn’t listen to Stallard, but I am certain that he wasn’t on about mannequins for 90 minutes.
