The clubs to look at are Millwall and Luton. With similar budgets to ours they are kicking on.

Could add Coventry and even Blackpool to that list.

    It’s never dull.
5 promotions, absolutely incredible. Survived 2 seasons in one of the toughest leagues in world football too. For a club of our size it really can’t be underestimated how well we’ve done.

Meanwhile massive clubs like Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Portsmouth and big clubs like Ipswich and Bolton find themselves stuck in league 1. Add Derby to that list now too!!

    Wow!!

This year is right up there in my life span, probably just edges 81 because of the cup win.
However the following year 82 in the old div2, we were very good at a higher level and so must figure.
I dare say the old timers who can remember, 55 was it when we missed out on promotion to the first division might have another opinion.

It’s obviously been a good season, but for me not a particularly entertaining one.

We did very well, but should have been champions

This has been a good season and had a chance to be great but because of missing out on the title, in terms of achievement I'd say 1980-81 was better.

However, as millersrus mentions, despite not winning anything to me 1981-2 was the best. We had a great team, a marquee manager, and independent of them being in a 'low' spell we were up against some teams who had been prominent in the top division through my childhood/t.eenage years. From the opening day 4-1 win over Norwich, doing the 10-1 double over Chelsea, coming up against the likes of Leicester City, QPR, Newcastle, Derby, to the 9 game winning streak in February/March that put us on the verge of 'the dream'. Just two missed penalties away from promotion to the top flight. The only shame was with such a great season we still finished below Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley but at least they missed out too.
