Wokeness in action.
Well-meaning attempt at achieving equality (which I totally agree with, even if it is sort-of applying quotas) hijacked by activists and subsequently condoned by Aunty Beeb

Wokeism, hijacked by activists, and fuelled by the BBC with its usual ****.

Ah yes the Torygraph and Hartley-Brewer, both sources of information that are a famous for being accurate and completely unbiased!
In both cases (I notice the alleged tweet doesn't seem to exist!!) each is a classic case of a hyperbole being used to confirm a pre existing bias. The reality is more prosaic, a comment or an aside being interpreted to suit the agenda.
This is a familiar playbook of the right, very successfully used by one A Hitler, who famously said and I paraphrase, repeat a lie often enough and people will believe it - of course in todays age where there is ample ability to actually identify what is true - it seems people will believe any old ****e!!
Still its reassuring to notice the usual suspects falling for such crap and including it in posts - it confirms my judgement that neither is able to deduce fiction from reality.
I think I’ve told you before, stop with the Hitler / Nazi comparisons to attempt to justify your position, it’s like swearing, it just shows your inability to provide a coherent argument

Idiot.

Yes it was all made up.
You have just demonstrated why I ignore most of what you post! You really do need to learn how to read! Yes someone made a remark or a comment, this is then seized upon by those with a particular agenda and blown up out of all proportion.
Rather like the Daily fail having Starmer's work event on its front page for 10 successive days, whilst ignoring the fact that Johnson had not been fined for at least 3 events which the Police deemed work events!
I realise as a revisionist, bigoted, xenophobe, ***ist **** you think any suggestion about diversity is a threat, but really, its not its just that your right wing commentators know how to successfully get you in a lather with dog whistle tropes.
As I said, correctly, a certain A. Hitler, or even a certain Viktor Orban does this very successfully, whilst at the same time increasing the authoritarian nature of the government.
Wow lovely rant.
Obviously the point being made about wokeism , only suits you when you are saying it.
Is being WOKE wrong- no
Is it hijacked by certain radicals / organisations? YES.
The BBC being one of them.
Had someone made the comment that the Mens England team had too many black players in it, the roof would have come off.
The story from the BBC had a sob story from black woman saying she couldn't get attached to the womens team because she felt excluded by not having black ladies running around in it.
Exactly the sort of divisive stuff, you are throwing at me.
The truth is, football supporters don't give a hoot what colour the players are. Its all about ability and results.
The easier question would have been, do black women try in engage at a root level?
If not, why not?
Don't throw a political divisive story out there, just to provoke an emotional reaction for something that isn't there.
The Prem is full of black players, mostly imports. Is that a motavator or a reason the BBC will claim is suppressing the native black population?
Any excuse for division can be rooted back to the BBC. From Lineker to Munchetty.
I am waiting for the first non league man footballer, to identify as a woman and be pushing for an England place, with the full backing of the BBC.
I coud quote an earlier post of yours, where you said being woke was a good a thing, but too many extremists hijack the cause for themselves. It works both ways sunshine. ]
Seig Heil.
Lol...and you accused someone else of a ‘lovely rant’, TTR.
For the record I suspect that the comments about the Lionesses being ‘too white’ were poorly made, ill advised and unfounded.
Having said that...no one seeks to be more ‘divisive’ on here than you and any opportunity to stir things up, particularly where race and the BBC are concerned, is something you have never been able to resist. What on earth have Lineker and Munchetty done now to set you off?
As for ‘the truth is football supporters don’t give a hoot what colour the players are’...that may be true of most genuine football supporters, but to suggest that football isn’t regularly used by a significant minority throughout Europe as a vehicle for far right protest and racist attack is palpable nonsense.
P.S. Swale...remember what you advised me about the ‘oxygen of publicity’.![]()

"For the record I suspect that the comments about the Lionesses being ‘too white’ were poorly made, ill advised and unfounded"
For the record I agree too, it was simply an opportunistic attempt to hijack the massive publicity the Lionesses' success created. As TTR noted, if some white BBC pundit (if there are any) had observed that there were too many black payers in the men's team, I would hope that said pundit would no longer be working for the BBC.
Like Harry Potter's dementors, this sort of thing must have sucked all the joy in the team's triumph out of the occasion.
This particular starting XI was white, yes. There were 3 ladies of colour, Demi Stokes, Jess Carter and Nikita Parris in the 23 strong squad. That's 13% of the squad being BAME. The UK population has the same figure of 13% BAME.
I looked further. There have been 193 ladies capped by England since the FA recognised the women's team. I found photos of 144 of them. 17 were BAME. 12%. This shows that the % of BAME representation in the England women's squad is roughly the same as the % in general population.
In previous discussions on the % of BAME managers/coaches in pro football I discovered that the % of BAME managers/coaches in the pro game was very similar to the % of BAME people who hold the necessary qualifications.
Representation in the women's squad is similar to the ratio in the populace and coaches in the men's game is similar to the ethnicity of those with the necessary qualifications. Problem? Not, IMO, in these two cases.
