I keep seeing this and can't believe it's true. The suggestion that a good goalkeeper becomes bad because of their coach? Sounds incredible unlikely to me.

In general it is difficult for goalies to do well behind any poorly performing team though
This is true. Both keepers we have used this season have had a thankless task with very little protection. On Sunday, having seen the goals again, he could have done a little better with maybe one, after the free kick. However, even that came through a forest of bodies and I would make Harkes more culpable than the keeper as he stopped when closing the shot down.

The Ausie might come good but as a no.2 for now. imo starting a season with these two as our keepers is practically a stick on for relegation. I will literally put big money on that.

Mellon, succeeded in maintaining promotion. Difficult COVID period and struggled to gain fans full backing. Wanted to move south again

Courts, succeeded beyond expectations. Earned offer from elsewhere and he chose to take it.

Ross has turned out to be a disaster. Most, including me, would have felt appointment was safe if a bit boring. Reality has been shockingly poor.

Player recruitment has focused on internationals/international experience (aside from the curveball of the young Ugandan and Sibbald on a free) and has been focused to what has been needed in the squad. Choice not to upgrade Butcher was down to manager who constantly said it wasn't needed. Transfers in are a far cry from the days of Lyng, Loemba, Barton, Quinn, Kingx2 etc.

Clark leaving to St J is a minor risk, but ultimately one that will likely suit all parties. Having his wage and some pennies might be useful in the next 48 hrs.

Interesting to see if any incoming are possible before "slamming shut" time. Also very interested to see what happens on the pitch without Ross being involved

Good Post, especially about the managers, one bad choice so far in Ross

and working under the current regime, rumours of not having a 100% say in team selection and of course not being involved in signing any players

Craig Sibbald and Glenn Middleton were 100% Jack Ross signings imo.

100%, I've no problem with having a sporting director, until this Ross appointment went south in recent weeks I was very happy with how things were going on and off the park as club was building year on year

It's obvious things haven't been handled perfectly recently but I don't think it needs everything ripped up and start again, more needs regroup and get back to what was working before hiring Ross

Actually think Ross is getting way too much support in all this from our fans, not sure why

    spot on

No-one forced him to completely change the way we play instantly with a half-fit squad.
No-one forced him to put 2 slow cb's together in a 4 with no cover and an open light weight midfield
No-one forced him to play Levitt as the last midfielder or bring him back in when unfit
No-one forced him to play Smith over Freeman in the home games v Livi/St Mirren where he would offer more attacking threat
No-one forced him to start Harkes
No-one forced him to drop Sibbald

Ultimately Ross has made an absolute cnt of it and set us off on a downward spiral. The problem didnt start in Alkmaar, it started the game before v Livi when we should have been full of confidence.
