    Taylor wants Wood to stay

Offers of a new contract are to put to Captain Fantastic and fully deserved.

Oh dear gru’s going to have a meltdown! 😄

I have to hold my hands up and head in shame, i said we shouldn't have given him the contract before last, but since then he has proved invaluable both in performance and organisational skills. It would seem the respect the players have for him and the fact that we are still light on coaching side would be ideal for him to become one of the backroom mob whilst still being someone we can fall back on as a player.

Wel it's been said many times before on this board that the manager sees the players more than we do.

There's still value in Wood if played sensibly

Hoping he goes with his boys at Derby! As a championship player this as got to be his last season. Proved on tues we aren't reliant on him.

i think there should be a role for Wood in some capacity playing/non playing. We have been very successful generally while he has been here. He knows the club, players and fans and knows what we are all about. He would take some replacing if we got shut.

He cant play week in and out but can alternate with the other old man in the squad peltier when needed. Both top professionals still. They will be both be im portant players for us if we want to stay up.

Taylor is proving to be a very good manager who isn't scared to mix things up in order to make improvements. If he sees the immense value that Wood offers not just the team but the club as a whole, then that to me shows it's on pure merit and not some old boys club favour.

I for one would be very happy to see him remain and eventually become one of the coaching staff full time

Well he’s not going gru so read it and weep.

Taylor knows and sees more of him on a daily basis than you ever will. Kept as a back up player, defensive coach or whatever, he is a club legend and he is being rewarded accordingly for the Herculean effort he has put in over the years.

Can anyone conform Taylor's dug-out preference?

Maybe, just maybe the manager and previous manager know more than people on a message board, imagine that.

I'd get a warning about uttering such heresy. 'The fans can see it, why can't the manager' appears to be the wise man's way to go.
