Funny how my first thoughts were the loss of livelihoods of the people who work at the club, the supporters and the affects on the local economy, short memories some….

Utterly sad for the club, staff and it's fans. I'm not massively aware of its financial situation but if they can't get an administrator who is willing to take it on (they now have to fund the administration themselves) then that might not even reprieve them

    This^^^

Having been there ourselves on more than one occasion, I wish them nothing but the best. Proper club, as Notts are , not one of these bl00dy TikTok, Disney, franchise abominations.

The club has been up for sale for some considerable time, but it was reported in September that owner Peter Swann was on the verge of agreeing terms to sell the club to a consortium of local businessmen. This sale moved on to due diligence – essentially a pre-sale appraisal of the company to ascertain its commercial position and ensure that there isn’t anything too unpleasant lurking in a corner of the accounts or anything like that – and to begin the process of the transfer of ownership. It was confirmed at the start of December that all concerned had reached terms.

This confirmation came at the same time as altogether more unsettling rumours from BBC Radio Humberside that players and staff had not been paid on time at the end of November. A month earlier, Chief Operating Officer Lee Turnbull had to dismiss rumours that the club had struggled to pay October’s wages, adding there was no ’cause for concern’, despite wages arriving later than usual into bank accounts at the end of the previous month. Shortly before Christmas, interim manager Michael Nelson confirmed that the club were building an “extensive portfolio” of players to sign for when they are allowed to make transfers after their embargo was lifted.

But we’re now into the second week in January, and there has been no update on this since December 21. And in the meantime another name has been thrown into the ring: Norman Smurthwaite, the former owner of Port Vale.

Smurfwaite has apparently pulled out, as has another interested party, which leaves them - at least for the time being - pinning their hopes solely on Hardy who has now submitted a bid.

Got to wonder who is supplying Hardy with the cash after his last effort here. No way he’s floating it all himself.
Off the field improvements such as changing rooms…lovely to look at, but actual ownership? Oh dear.

Who's the money behind Hardy? Because he hasn't the personal wealth to fund it himself. He bought us through Paragon, they went bust, so did we so where or who is the money?

    Presumably fronting a consortium.
Somebody suggested he's partnered up with former Grimsby chairman John Fenty but that might have been a joke.

Seems as if Sthorpe are saved, from AH at least. He has twitted:

    Alan Hardy

Sadly, I am led to believe that an alternative bidder has been selected to move forward with the purchase of S****horpe Utd FC. I therefore wish the chosen party great success and send my best wishes to all the fans of this great club. I sincerely hope happy times soon return

I believe it's the owner of Ilkeston Town who has bought them from under Hardy's nose. Not sure who he is but got to be better than Hardy

    Seems so.

Amid the ongoing links to United, Hilton has released a statement via Ilkeston's club website. He said: "It is with deep sadness I have to resign my position as the Club Chairman with immediate effect. An opportunity has arisen for me to help navigate another club away from an unthinkable fate and hopefully assist them in getting back to where they belong.

“My time at Ilkeston has been an unbelievable one. I’ve met some wonderful people over the past few years and sadly lost a few along the way. The memories of it all will remain with me forever.

“I’m completely comfortable leaving the club in the condition that it is now in. I’ve delivered on all of my promises and finally you have a club that can sustain at a good level without the risk of losing it.

“The facilities are something we should all be extremely proud of. The playing squad and coaches are undoubtedly one of the strongest at step three. More importantly, they are all great people too and will certainly be trying their very best to deliver success.
