    Question Montenegro anyone?

Mrs BT has got it in her head she wants to go to Montenegro in September or October.

It's a place I have never been, any tips or advice anyone?

Morning BT. We’ve been there, but only for a whole day as a stop off on a cruise. Beautiful place, friendly people and scenery which is beautiful. We docked at Kotor and had a guided coach trip into the real Montenegro countryside.Kotor is a lovely charming place to visit. You’ve even got Fjiords as you approach from the sea. We went in August and it was very warm. Love to go back there. Definitely recommend it.

We had a day in Kotor on a cruise a few years ago. Kotor itself was an interesting enough place, we took a taxi a few miles down the coast and had lunch in a taverna overlooking the bay, the taxi driver and the taverna owner looked after us like we were royalty, the food was excellent and we weren't ripped off at all. The locals in Kotor, those we met anyway, were welcoming and friendly as well. For some reason Kotor is thronged with cats, they seemed to be treated like deities, not a problem unless you have an aversion to cats. We were told we were lucky when we were there, Kotor was not as crowded as it can be if a couple of big ships call in, and we were on a small one.

Overall we really enjoyed our day there, but as for a longer stay I wouldn't know.

Been to Tivat many times as some of the yachts that I used to manage were based there. Easy Jet do direct flights to Tivat during the summer months, May to September. A great hotel inside the marina at Tivat.

It's still in a bit of political unrest, dodgy government but friendly locals.
On 11 August 2022, a mass shooting occurred in the city of Cetinje. Eleven people, including the perpetrator, were killed, and six others were injured.

Montenegro’s wine culture is one of the oldest in the region, predating wine-making in Italy and France.
Montenegro is synonymous with deep, aged red wines made from Vranac grapes. All of the country’s vineyards are located in the eastern zone between Podgorica and Lake Skadar and can be visited on a trip along the Wine Route from the capital. Popular vineyards include Winery Masanovic, Savina and Cermeniza.

With an area of less than 14,000 square-kilometres and a population under 650,000 people, it’s one of the smallest countries in the Balkans. And yet Montenegro has somehow still managed to squeeze dramatic mountains and canyons, the lion’s share of the region’s biggest lake, a beautiful stretch of Adriatic coastline and of course the iconic Bay of Kotor into its borders.
