    Reading to be deducted points?

Being reported in the press Reading could be facing a 6 point deduction for being naughty. If imposed this season (and it should be considering they have a suspended points deduction hanging over them from a previous indiscretion) it will drag them right into the relegation dog fight.

The EFL will wait to see who's in the bottom 3 first before they deduct them this season, if it's Blackpool, Wigan and us they'll get them next season..................utm.

I think that there’s a set date which decides the season the points penalty has to be taken.

Unless they are going to get relagated, they will impose it later this season.
    So no punishment

    Reading facing points deduction

    From the Beeb website -

The English Football League says it is reviewing Reading's finances amid reports the Championship club is about to receive a six-point deduction.

The punishment would see the club drop from 14th in the table to 19th, and seven points above the relegation zone.

The Royals were deducted six points for breaching financial rules in 2021.

A further six-point deduction was suspended until the end of 2022-23 provided they hit targets outlined in a business plan agreed with the EFL.

"In November 2021, the EFL and Reading Football Club reached an Agreed Decision in respect of the club's failure to comply with the league's profit and sustainability rules," an EFL statement said.

"As part of the decision, the club is required to comply with the terms of a business plan up until the end of season 2022-23. The plan focuses on a number of financial targets with the objective of improving the club's financial performance.

"The league is currently reviewing submissions from Reading to determine whether compliance has been achieved.

Reading - managed by former Manchester United and England midfielder Paul Ince - have been under a transfer embargo since the summer of 2021 as a result of the breach of probability and sustainability rules.

    Interesting.

Peterborough United looking at legal avenues regarding their relegation to league one,
because if Reading had been hit with the 6 point deduction, Peterborough United would
have stayed up, Peterborough United were relegated in 22nd place, 4 points behind
    Reading.
Peterborough United reported feel they have lost around £10m in lost revenue, & impact
    of players value.
    Verdict -
This would seem we have another case where, Wycombe Wanderers & Middlesbrough Fc
claimed compensation from Derby County, over relegation & promotion issues.

They’re already on a point suspension so surely that means that they will actually get a point deduction this time, if not then surely there’s something wrong like cheating

It will be wiped off if they have met the objectives. I’ve been told by a Reading fan that all transfer activity had to be approved in advance by the EFL so if there has been any wrong doing Reading will claim it’s the EFL’S fault.

Looking like a right hornets nest clubs on final warnings threats of suspensions fines points deductions, trouble brewing where does it all end? Or start for that matter. Clubs threatening legal action Derby Middlesbrough Wycombe what absolute b***** mess I know we’re biased but it seems the only clubs that do things legal are us!
I remember last time we were in Champ and ( I think Deloitte) did an accounts check and the only clubs showing a profit were us and WBA now they’re allegedly in the poop

I've come up with a new points deduction system if proved beyond all doubt that a club has breached the FP rules.

Minus 1 point from their tally, in the same season, for every 1 Million pound overspent. Can you imagine what would happen if a club lost 39 points in a season? That'll sort em all out. All clubs will have to submit their spending via their accountants during the close season period so the EFL have the time to deduct points to give a final League table.

Shouldn't be that hard to set up. As an added incentive, if any club fails to submit their spending on player acquisition or wages paid against incoming revenue, (£1 for £1) then it's an instant - 20 points.
