Wo Duff house hunting wi their lass in the Barnsley area ?
The one thing that struck me massively is how so much better you are treated at the bar and by waitresses and that includes the number of staff available to serve you .

The good old English class system at its finest because the narrative is you have more brass and therefore more status than the regular Ponty End attendee .

The truth is you might well have a bob or two to facilitate that area of the ground for a full season but what wasn't lost on me is despite the illusion of better status anybody who starts drinking heavily from 10am until 3.30pm still acts like a bellend of which there were plenty .

It's obviously handled in a different way of course , the quiet word as opposed to the stormtrooper meat heads who steward the Ponty End .

    Interesting afternoon .

I was in two minds whether to disturb Michael to be honest .

He came up at around 3pm and was sat at a table with his family and not really there in an official capacity , they were all having a drink and his family is his family and I guess quality time is at a minimum .

I just asked politely if he minded a picture with me and he was more than obliging .

I never asked him about the match or the play offs and just mentioned it was my stag do which led to him wishing us well and to have a great day .

I just wished him luck in the play offs and that was it to be honest .

Exactly the same impression that I got. Not only that, there were club officials offering first dibs on away tickets to the executive box club rather than let them queue with the peasants on a pyssing down day in the ponty car park. OK, it's all done online now but back then thy ed to queue for the box office to get thi tickets.

Your season ticket money is invaluable though remember.

I found it all a bit confusing. There were some raggy(ish) lads in when I went, obviously not adhered to the dress code and a bit rowdy come kick off time. Then thy ed businesspeople who couldn't give two shytes about football, clearly there for some so called posh nosh and a meeting. Thy also ed some gobby lasses with about as much class and etiquette as a bunch of women on a hen party staggering art of Chennels at chucking art time. This amidst all the pompous nature of the surroundings, I found it all superficial and quite surreal to be honest.

Saw quite a few with shorts , t shirt on and trainers and the dress code is clearly highlighted and something you are made away of when you book .

My guess is that those who ignore it are the ones in there for the full season and the £20k per season clearly carries some entitlement .

You could tell they were because they were the ones who knew everybody , you can pretty much work these things out as the afternoon goes on .

I've never been anywhere near the Legends Suite/ Hospitality Group so thanks for that Animal.

It's odd how the hoi polloi have to queue for understaffed young staff to serve dubious quality food and drink in the concourses yet there are plentiful staff to attend to every need for the richer punters. Many wait up to an hour sat in cars waiting to exit the car park while others quaff food and drink in comfort waiting for the hoi polloi to disperse.

It's not what most of the community of Barnsley folk would expect of the club, fans should be regarded as people of equal value who should get equal treatment pre and post match.

They even had pretty young lasses either side opening the doors for us to save us the trouble .

    The mind boggles .

As Orwell said in Animal Farm , some animals are more equal than others .

The Fleetwood model is a good example to follow.

All welcome in "Jim's Bar" with groups of what are clearly local toffs in the same premises as the masses served at the same civilised surroundings. Players in bar after game. Home and away fans respected being treated as equal to anyone else attending the match, irrespective of the depth of their pockets.

The old Redfearn's bar was alright until it was shut by the club and replaced by a so called fan zone .

It bit small but the idea was decent enough , really like to see a supporters bar like the old social club emerge .

A question of funding and ground ownership issues I guess .

I wonder what Duff and his family talk about when they are in the Oakwell suite... 😊
    Var ?.
    Rubbish refs ?.
Scrapping the Papa poo pot plastic trophy ?.
Why Warnock is such a complete and utter Colin ?.
That they are sick of hearing about flipping Wrexham ?.
Or whether Wakey Trinny will stay up this season ?.

Bloody hell I've forgotten JAQ was there too , that's down to yesterday's beer intake and clearly she's at the bottom of my alcohol induced mind , she's at the bottom of my sober mind too but let's be nice .

She spoke to Neil of Tykes TV who was sat at our table too .

" yeh super excited for the play offs "

You won't be if we bomb I thought and miss out on £8m .
