Thread: Getting rid of Shelvey

    With FFP and limited squad size, you have to make a plan and stick to it. Players like Shelvey and Wood had no future for where we want to be. It was a no brainer to get rid and now we just need to ditch our deadwood (Hendricks, etc) and make some good signings to be on track with the squad.

    Yep...another deal on increased wages would have made absolutely no sense. According to Keith Downie, Shelvey wanted the security of an extended contract on a lot more money and, whilst Howe was reluctant to let him leave, he agreed as he understood why Shelvey wanted to go and didn't want an unhappy player on the books.
