    If anyone’s doubting how good McGoldrick could be read a bit of the Derby fan forum here;

    I’ll be surprised if you can find any fan saying this is a poor signing, regardless of his reasons…which we all know are personal for him as he always said he’s come to Notts if possible.
    Let’s enjoy it guys. Imagine our attack next season.

    And if Cameron doesn’t sign in next few days…I’d be moving towards withdrawing offer. If the captain can’t commit now…
    I would be shocked to the core if you could find anyone on here who thinks it is a poor signing. You will easily find a few people who don't we should sign him, but even those surely won't class it as a poor signing. How can it be at this point?

    I hope Ruben the midfielder stays, but I have to say, McGoldrick as a proven striker is a better partner for Langstaff or Scott than Ruben is. I was never quite convinced when we played Rubes as the second striker in a 3-5-2, but as a midfielder making creative or late runs he was far more adept. Rubes is definitely more of an attacking/creative midfielder than a striker, albeit his goal record is very respectable.

    Exactly jackal, for all the wishes of DM to finish his career at Notts, as good a player as he is, I cannot imagine the usual hard work and research done by our recruitment team, would not have applied to the signing of McGoaldrick, it just seems to have been a perfect fit.

    This isn't the typical Football Radar signing, in terms of recruiting talented but unheralded young players with sell-on value, but maybe that's a misinterpretation of their strategy. Perhaps if the data says they're the right signing and they've somehow become available, then age isn't as big a deciding factor as we thought. Bostock was maybe another example of that.

    I work with a Derby fan who says McGoldrick was a class above at League One level last season and by far their best player, so if he comes anywhere near that form he should be dynamite in League Two. I do wonder whether the intention is to play him alongside Langstaff, or whether he's been signed as a ready-made replacement if a big bid comes in, but let's hope it's the former. Add Cedwyn Scott to the mix and our attack looks capable of doing serious damage, given the number of chances we create.

    Who knows, it might also send a game-changing signal of our ambition to those out-of-contract players trying to decide their best next move.
    With Mcgoldrick signing and hopefully a fit Scott, our forward line has much more physicality about it.

    Exciting signing! Not going to dilute my excitement with speculation about what it means for other players stayign/going.

    Agree that it likely will make Notts [even] more attractive to other prospective signings, and also think it will be yet another 'lift' to the club /squad - as if we needed more feel-good factors!

    Looks like goals on the menu again next season, chaps!!!!

    Welcome home, Didz

    I'll repeat what i said yesterday. This signing will not just add quality to our strike force, it's the kind of signing that will help attract other players. If we could somehow keep Langstaff, even until January we will be in the top 7 i'm sure.

    To study?

    If that’s his best option, he should re-sign with us, have a brilliant season and then wait for better offers.
