Don't want to be over dramatic but the storm around here today almost bordered on the biblical. I was Driving from Redditch back to Oldbury and at around 5.30pm I got caught in one of the worst hailstorms ive ever encountered. You had to be their to hear the sound of these stones hitting the roof.
Then I had to contend with all the flooded roads and the chaos of these stranded cars who were unable to drive through it you cant beat an SUV in this sort of weather. Anybody else caught up in it today?
Not a drop today in Harrogate 😍😎
I was in the front garden of my home in Brentwood. It was very hot and sunny but I did notice some cloud in the west. This got closer and closer and I saw it was a thick grey. Hot and miss storms had been forecast and it looked like this was going to hit. Naturally I kept on eye on this and was both relieved and surprised when I watched it skirt by incredibly close and moving in the direction of London. Later I saw the serious rains and flash flooding that hit parts of London. I assume this was the reason why. Very lucky.
Very lucky it seems to have missed it, 23 degrees here in sunny Saltburn by Sea
We got it in Leicestershire at about 5.30 pm but nowhere near as badly as some areas. It lasted about one and a half hours. The garden really needed it. Still warm today but far less humid.
We have had three severe storms in succession. Saturday evening, Sunday evening and yesterday evening. Saturday and Sunday were the worst here with torrential rain and thunder and lightning. Yesterday we had some rain but the storm followed the Black Country Ridge and Sedgley was hit badly with hail and lightning. You could hear non stop thunder from here for over an hour.
Heavens opened up by us for about an hour on Sunday. Slight shower yesterday evening. That was it. Other than that and a bit of cloud yesterday it's been wall to wall sunshine over here.
I went over to my daughters at Rocester on Sunday evening to take birthday presents. Not a pleasant drive with some roads with at least six to ten inches of water. My son in law , who works in the JCB factory at Rocester suddenly had a video on his phone from inside the factory with water pouring through the roof, and workmen walking through it.
