I've found some great reading material

I've been sifting through a box of old football programmes, autograph books and other paraphernalia and come across some interesting reading I'm looking forward to browsing through later.

A copy of 'Windy and Dusty' from December 1991. Phil Henson adorns the front cover. Volume 1 edition number 9.

A copy of 'Mi Whippet's dead', issue 13 from 1992.

and a copy of a programme which I've got to research as it says 'STONES' on the header. It states the game is between the Stones v Rotherham United Barclays League division four, Sat 18th April 1992. But who are the Stones?

One of the rare games I also attended. Dire. Sloped, rock hard pitch and quite windy if I remember right. I think I also have that programme somewhere.

Two things that I remember about that day are:

Quite a few of our fans were wearing their club shirts or tee-shirts (and a few even removed them to 'soak up the rays' in the second half) much to the opprobrium of the locals - I seem to recall that it was the warmest (or rather least cold) day in what had been a very chilly run up to Easter that year

The Maidstone 'keeper was a bit past his prime and copped dog's abuse for being of somewhat full figure - Brin, is my memory playing tricks or was it Iain Hesford (who I recall playing for Maidstone around that time)? If so, that's a bit sad because IIRC he died of a heart attack a few years ago

But my memory is definitely not what it used to be.....
