The problem with Rugby Union is it does not have the TV revenue stream to rely on like an EPL club does. It's great to be an EPL footy club money wise.

I watched the Chelsea v Liverpool game yesterday afternoon, the Bridge was rammed to the rafters and everywhere you looked there was a £30 million plus player on the ball.

Maatsen came on for Chelsea to finally nail any lingering hopes we have of him coming to Turf Moor.

But we're not comparing Union with the PL, we are comparing Union with League, and as Sub says, the players gravitate from League to Union because that's where they can make more money.

I have a feeling that cash cow is going to roll over on its side and expire. Nothing compares to the EPL for hype and exorbitant amounts of Wonga. If St Helens and Wakefield Trinity were playing a game in our back garden I'd be at the front of our house brewing Yorkshire tea at thirty bob a cup. A choccy digestive thrown in for good measure.

So we managed to win.....somehow, but how the feck do you end up playing with 12 men ? There will be much lamenting about the loss of Farrell, but not from me, imo he's a liability, we can go with Ford and Smith now and we'll be much better for it, it's no coincidence that we played all our best stuff in this game after Farrell had been removed.

And just to show I bear no ill will to our neighbours in the Principality, I reckon neither England nor Wales will be winning the World Cup, but of the two I'd say Wales have the better chance.
It’s trying to get my head round all those Welsh place names that does for me sinky. While I can cope with Wrexham becoming Wrecsam, Mold is apparently Pen-y-Cillin.

Oh yes, it gets even better, besides going without serial liability Farrell, his partner in crime Jack van Poortwhatever is out as well and in comes Alex Mitchell as replacement, a miles better No 9.

The team is now in the capable hands of Ford, Smith, Care, Youngs and Mitchell. Things can only get better.

Before that we have the small matter of Ireland in Dublin on Saturday, without Farrell and Van Poo I seriously expect an improved performance, hopefully I won't have to hide behind the settee like I have with some recent displays.
