Agreed. It is indeed very important to look beyond what is being fed to us from all directions, not just any single one. The same applies to those of all viewpoints of course. Question everything but don't automatically disbelieve.

If there were proof then there would be no need for faith.

But I would suggest many "religious" people have very little understanding of the basis of their beliefs as they are likely to have been indoctrinated throughout their lifetime.
