Thread: Trafford

Personally i think Trafford is being hung out to dry by the defence, but I really would love for Muric to get a few premier league starts just to see a comparison at the same level.

That exactly right Sinkov - these people who are abusing are of course doing more damage than the teams we play against.

I’ve met the types before screaming at their kids about what they should be doing , when they couldn’t really do it themselves.

Unfortunately we are weak all across the back line ( exception of Taylor maybe ) and if people can’t see that our centre backs don’t win balls - headers - read the game correctly- - get out muscled and out fought they’re watching different games to me, also Robert’s still thinks we’re playing in the championship wandering off and leaving our already fragile defence open.

Why people can’t see all that and it’s Traffords fault is beyond me.

I was refereeing a game in Accrington between a couple of under ten teams. The playing fields are tiered and on the pitch beneath me was a "father" slagging his son off, effing and jeffing and shouting he was f*cking useless.

I stopped our game and "booked" him and told him I was reporting him to the FA and the police.

He sneaked off to his car and drove off.

A couple of weeks later I ran across across him at Towneley Park and he came across all Billy Big Bollox and told me what he was going to do to me. He got head butted in the nose and sent off to Blackburn Infirmary, I f*cking hate bullies.

I think young Jimmy is a bit like the kid on the park, he needs some TLC.

Trafford is not great, and a work in progress.
I don't mind that, I point the finger to everything else around him.
If Trafford was playing with Ben Mee and Tark Infront of him, he would play with a lot more confidence, be given advice, instruction and get extra protection.
We haven't even made adjustments to protect him in corners.
Surly the basics would be to stand Berge between keeper and opposition.
We are playing two center back who are young and out of their depths, just trying to survive in the prem. No extra tactics to aid Trafford. Teams now just put crosses in and play for corners.
So my finger is pointing at the coaching team, they see the same issues as we do, yet 10 games in we are still moaning.
I don't blame Trafford he is a young goalie, he never claimed to be anything else, we bought him.

    FTD

I’m not sure how we can judge Trafford at all tbh based on what’s in front of him - all I do know Is at 20 he s an international footballer which is a major achievement aside of Burnley.

A lot on here are at VK but im pretty confident if Trafford was letting them down he wouldn’t be playing in goal for us. ( despite the loyalty vibe ).

If we just go back 12 months, many Burnley fans, me included, thought Muric was a joke keeper, but Vinni kept playing him and he improved as the season went on. Trafford deserves the same chance, and to me looks far more of a keeper now than Muric did a year ago.

Chucking kids in at the deep end can work army88, Scholes, Giggs, Beckham, the two Nevilles and Butt managed it and of course Jimmy Adamson bloodied quite a few.

If VK sticks with the young man, Trafford will not be getting any stick from me at games. All Burnley fans can do on match day is give him our full support, anything else is deplorable.

Sadly, BT, many Burnley fans need a scapegoat, as has been evident over the many years that I have been going to the Turf.
There have been so many players over the years that have been openly disliked by fans and were criticised every week for one thing or another yet, the manager kept picking them because they did the job that he wanted them to do.

Trafford has one statistic which I really dislike and that is the fact that, as a goalkeeper, he has had 752 touches of the ball and that is 183 more than the next goalkeeper in the list. THe more touches any goalkeeper has ---the less likely you are to score against your opponents.
It is certainly time to think about getting the ball forward quickly, which our fans call 'Dyche Ball' or just continuing in the way that we are with a slow motion build up which just allows our opponents to re-group.
VK has some quick forward players which was a luxury which SD didn't have, however, we are not using their full potential.

Something is sadly wrong mein freund because Brownhill, Berge, Amdouni, Taylor, Redmond, Koleosho, Larsen, Beyer, JG and Jack Cork are all good enough to play in the EPL.

It's an interesting statistic is that one about Trafford's touches on the ball.
