Thing I’d love to know is who’s responsible for player sales? Want an end to this constant selling players for less than their worth is this part of Scott’s remit or down to Douglas who I’m assuming does this job currently no point having young uns coming through if we’re just going to give them away anyway

I don't think we have a strategy of valuing a player and then deciding to sell them for less? Do we? Is that what some people think?

The strategy seems to be " we won't spend another 25% on this players salary, better to let a multi million pound asset leave on a free".

Ok. So if we have a player who is doing really well for us and goes into last year of his contract, and management calculate that they can afford to pay him a 30% increase to stay in line with pay structure, FFP, affordability and everything else to consider. However, the player wants 50%.

    Would you personally pay him?

Follow up - he won't sign, so you want to sell and value him at 3 million pounds. However only one club comes in and makes an offer - £1.2 million. Would you accept it?

That's the thing. We don't get that far. And if the player wants 50% and it's financially doable - do it. Nothing stopping us from saying to the player we will put a minimum release fee in their deal so if they still want to leave that summer, they can.

No player of ours (that's a high value player) should be able to enter the last 12months of a contract and not be under an extension clause or contract offer that's competitive.

We've publicly done the same thing to Ollie this season.

You presumed we don't get that far. Nobody knows for sure what's going on. Even brins inside Adrian

The question was that you had already worked out that the most we could afford was 30% increase. And lets sey that they accept your idea of the min release fee and will accept 40% with that in mind.

Would you offer him the money?

And this player is just going into the last year of his contract, and he is not interested in an extension clause, so you decide to sell. You value him at 3 million. But again, no offers come in close to that - the most is £1.2 million, that's the best you can do. The club will accept a 10% sell on clause if sold in the next 2 seasons.

    Would you accept it?

I thought the interview from both of them was very interesting and good to see. Interesting editing on TS interview makes you wonder what he said at those moments.

Good luck Rob......................don't forget he's been complicit in bring lots of deadwood and great players also to the club. Is this what we, as RUFC, have to gamble on?

You won't get the reply your after m8. Everyone knows the players/agents have all the power and but it's easier to blame the club, rob Scott, tony Stewart, warnie, Taylor, even doris for not extending the contract's.

Next ask why rathbone didn't sign the contract extension we offered him last year, and why Rufc decided to wait till 2024 before restarting contract talks.
