Lucien Mahovo has joined Norwich City for an undisclosed fee.
The 19-year-old defender, who signed his first professional contract with us in December 2022, departs for the Sky Bet Championship having made his league debut on the final day of last season.
A statement from our board of directors reads: “While we’re very keen to see academy graduates like Lucien go on to establish themselves in our first team, we should also take pride in our ability to nurture young talent in a way that attracts interest from clubs in higher divisions.
“Having progressed well since his arrival in the 2021-22 season, Lucien thoroughly deserves the recognition this move brings for him – and we’re very happy with the structure of the deal.
“We’d like to acknowledge the efforts of everyone in our academy who was involved in bringing Lucien to the club and his development thereafter.”

Is it only me who thinks our squad is beginning to look very threadbare now? Especially defence. Begs the question why he never got a chance in our first team if Norwich think he is worth a punt. Another disappointing move of young talent yet again.

I don’t remember anyone on here being that enthusiastic about him or the sense that we had a real prospect on our hands. Be interesting to know how much he went for.

No idea what kind of fee we've received, but I would have liked to see him forge a career at Notts if he's decent, especially given that we're short on numbers at the back. Definitely need a couple more defenders now.
