James Bunce - Director of Performance

    Reported by Craig Hope:

James Bunce (ex Monaco performance director) will be joining new sporting director Paul Mitchell at NUFC as restructuring of hierarchy continues. It’s likely his role will be director of performance.

    --------------
Good move as brings in more experience and it's those little gains that wins trophies.

However, as said on the other thread, it highlights Mitchell's power now and he has now emtional link to Eddie like Mandy & co, I'd also suspect that he has a prefered manager he has worked with in the past. . . Means Eddie needs a good start to the season, without it - I don't think he'll be here long now.

I hear what you're saying however I'm not buying the Eddie is in trouble.

It will all come down to fitness of the squad. We can't have the amount of injuries we had last season.

Eddie's proven he's got the ability to take the team to cup finals and to the top for with a 1/2 a squad of cabbages.

With 3-5 quality additions this summer we're gonna be in a great for a great season.

However, there will be obvious pressure if we don't win matches early especially with significant investment in quality additions to the squad.

This is a performance business, a meritocracy. Eddie is the most rational and reasonable person at the club and will be well aware of what is expected of him. He knew he was cooked and burnt out at Bournemouth. He knew it was time to go. I respect that about the man.

We have to hope that Mitchell et al that have onboarded back him 100% this season. Together I'm sure we've got a winning formula.

I'm not saying he's in trouble now - 100% not.

But a poor start. . . I'd be very fearful for him, regardless of what he has achieved prior.

Agree, Jammy. Think I said as much on another thread-I suspect he won't have as much wiggle room if things aren't going too well.

    Cheers Ziparinho!

Bunce is gonna be focused totally on player rehabilitation and post match recovery. It's fantastic to see a major concern of the manager & club identified and then a 'Best in class' member of the back room staff contracted and in place ahead of the squad returning for Pre-Season.

Brilliant to see from the club. Excellent to see how well we are managed these days.

More than that, he’s gonna oversee all the medical, strength and conditioning, analytics for S&C, nutrition, the full package.

He’s worked with Mitchell at both Soton and Monaco, so it’s good to see that Mitchell has identified a big need (that Ashworth should have sorted a long time ago) very quickly and he brought in someone he knows and trusts to do such an important job so you know he’ll get the backing and support to make a difference quickly.

I have to hold my hands up and say I've taken no notice of any of those before we got them in.
All I can hope for is that they are a fantastic addition to the club setup and will do us proud.
