His overall results record has been very good.
    However, it is generally agreed:
    1. He has been lucky with very favourable draws. (Alas, we might never be so fortunate again.)
    2. The football has been as dull as ditch water. If it were any other country I'd have been backing the opposition every time.

    Next manager
I'd like to see Klopp too, but I've an awful feeling it will be an FA approved PC Southgate mk2.

The role of England manager goes beyond games. Southgate is an intelligent and committed man who did so much more for English football. He is articulate and never bit to all the ****e that was slung at him. He did the role with a huge amount of dignity whilst breaking records along the way… tho apparently that is all due to luck of the draw and having the best players England have ever had. He won more knockout games than every manager combined since 1966… some of which were considered greats at club level. I genuinely believe if you put an England 11 together of players since 2000 you might have one or 2 players from the current crop.
Southgate has built a legacy and made England fun for the players and for those of us who have wanted to see England progress in tournaments.
The names being banded don’t offer any encouragement that England will become an all conquering team. Potter is in the same mould as Southgate… done the same coaching badges.
Being a head coach is pointless in international football as you don’t get the time to ‘coach’… what you need to be exceptional at is having a clear system that you want the players to play, the communication skills to get players to buy in to it and play it. All in the space of 5/6 weeks a year.
I have no idea who the FA will bring in, but I will be confident that many will find him/her underwhelming.

Agreed. It’s a vile job. Can’t remember too many club managers having disparaging AI memes, beer cups thrown at him or being publicly slated by the media.

I agree look how Graham Taylor and Steve McClaren were treated by the press when they managed England.

Everyone assumes that but you haven't been on the receiving end of vile abuse in the media so no one knows until you are in their shoes.

The level of hate and criticism directed to Southgate was unbelievable and disgusting the people that did it are not england supporters they are the vile similar to football hulagans
, He had plastic beer cups thrown at him by some English supporters , the level of booing directed as Southgate at all staduims across germany was disgusting , the staduim announcer would read out the Engakd team , the starting 11, then the Engand coach , then there was a significant amout of English fans booing gareth Soutgates name being read out in the staduim - never seen that before - he was then criticised by former players who he considerd as friends like Lineker and shearer - no wonder he was sick of it
Some English fans and press will never learn that it is their toxic behaviur that is Englands downfall , and until it stops we will never win anything
Any new manager coming in will be mad to want all this, its insane
