For people who have forgotten what Southgate was like a few years ago.

    Good article...

Matters came to a head during the warm-up matches for Euro 2020 in June 2021. For the best part of a year, Premier League footballers had been ‘taking the knee’ in support of BLM before matches. It was always a gesture that was going to irritate a lot of fans – not because they are racist, but because they don’t want to be lectured to by multimillionaires implying that they are racist, and because they had come to learn that BLM was not the noble anti-racist group the media had led us to believe it was.

I'm getting a sense of where this site comes from with the linked headline "Why they hate JD Vance".

Side note (slightly): I used to have an overlapping social circle with Southgate during his Villa days, and he was well known as being something of a chauvinist. Not headline worthy, but he wasn't exactly the guy dads want their daughters around.

The England women's team (and Rotherham United) are still "taking the knee".

The next England manager will probably have to sign up to do all the same stuff as part of the FA contract.

Spiked are revolutionary Communists turned libertarians but they've always been on the side of ordinary working class football fans and against the kind of left-wing middle class people who despise them.

An England International in his 20's was chauvinistic shocker. Times move on as I'm sure Southgate has.

And stood out from his peers for it.

    Appreciate your feedback, as always.

I guess I'm just "left wing" enough to think an Islamaphobic nutjob should be left to do his own explaining. Which I guess he'll do plenty of during the coming months.
