This is the level we are at though with English managers.

Current English managers in the premier league are:
    Howe
    Dyche
    McKenna
    Martin
    O'Neill

And two of those are promoted clubs. O'Neill and Dyche won't get a look in. So that leaves us with Howe or Potter as the only two realistic choices.

We need to find a way to be doing more to promote young and progressive English managers towards the top end of our game. It would be nice to see an English managers get a big top 6 job, I can only think of Lampard and Potter in recent times who have had that opportunity.

We really do need to invest more on English managers, but that success itself won’t come overnight. Are there many English managers (or even players) wanted abroad? No. Yet we have the best league arguably and have a lot of foreign players and managers. I think the current crop of English players are the ones to target to become successful managers for the future - they need to build some level of intelligence and leadership and avoid becoming the next Rooney. Strong leaders are needed - some are born with it some are not. Having done a PG level on leadership, I won’t bore you guys the details but we need someone setting an example on the pitch.. and a manager who can lead by that example too. Please don’t step forward Rooney.

I think it will be Potter. Hard to look past him really especially as Newcastle don’t want Howe to go.

Also, don’t forget that Howe is on double the wages at Newcastle that Southgate was on as England manager!

I hope not, Carsley has a face I just want to punch.

Carsley had Southgate’s DNA running through him!

Potter may be an ex Baggie if absolutely no repute whatsoever as a player but he did an amazing job with his Swedish side in Europe and then at Swansea and even more so at Brighton.

Jesus Christ - I hope not! This guy would be the equivalent of Shan who was the worst appointment ever and can’t forgive the t wat for parking the bus at Vile Park. Shan and Big Dave are now at a level for a reason!
