Duisburg have just beaten their city neighbours DSV 1900 8-0 in a friendly. Confidence may be high for our match then.

I'm not sure what to expect on Saturday. Duisberg are a decent sized club and get attendances around the same as ours last season, yet they've just been relegated to the 4th tier in Germany for the first time.

Plus it's going to be 30°+ too so it could be a pretty taxing afternoon.

If I am seeing really positive comments regarding players that played this level last season whilst it’s not a guarantee their going to perform in a Notts’s shirt at this level it’s as close to a guarantee you’re going to get.
Tony Agana, Vinny Arkins, Darren Caskey, Mike Emenalo, Tony Hackworth, Ben Burgess, Ryan Ford

I think the common opinion about Agana, was that we signed the wrong Sheffield United Centre Forward. What about Sol Campbell? I believe quite a few of the Moniz team will fall into that 'fail' category.

One of my favourites too, Colin Calderwood.

Still a PSF. Which ever way it’s dressed up it’s still about getting fit, playing in hot conditions will help with this. Let’s not forget the first few games of the new season could be in hot conditions, though with how ‘summer’ has gone so far, it seems unlikely.

A bit like being worried about playing Mansfield after they put 8/9 past Retford.

I’d look at losing 1-0 to Hibs as a barometer that they may be a decent outfit. Though a Div 4 side in German leagues is highly unlikely to be the same standard as EFL 2.
Should still be a good test and a good couple of days for anyone going.

My point wasn’t we had never made bad signings but the signings above are totally different to the ones we have made. We’ve signed players that have performed well at this level last season that have also their fans saying they were decent and whilst stats don’t tell you everything, defenders recording high on defensive duals etc seems a positive sign as that is one area we were sadly missing.
Durhams constant retort he’s never heard of them holds absolutely no water as most people couldn’t name many players playing in the champ nevermind league 2 and I’m pretty sure champ players would walk into our side.

Ah OK, I don't know what levels German teams are at.

For what it's worth, I saw this on their forum.

... oh yeah, sorry, the translation...

I've seen the English 4th division live twice. It's no gimme. It compares well to the German 3rd and 4th tiers. The league has a lot more teams and they play every 3-4 days. Needs stamina. At their best they're powerful for the full 90. Wait and see - Notts have real ambition to get back to the 3rd division. A good game and a draw would be ok. But if we want to get promoted, we can't really lose.
