The ifollow service is good BOTN and the matches can be screened via a dodgy stick. Th returns are good because you can plan around the crap nd you'll find that people make time for you when you go back if you ever do!

    Enjoy your new experience!
It is always good to hear fellow Millers doing well, and so although I will stress it isn't easy I wish anyone that is doing it or planning on doing it all the best, you only live once

Thank you for the nice comments and good wishes.
I’m retiring now so not worried about working.
I’ve lived my life well and done everything I’ve wanted to but now is the time to put my feet up in the quiet parts of where we will be away from all the tourists etc.

I don't blame you, we have been thinking of doing something similar. Since Brexit its not as easy so curious on how easy/ difficult the Spanish visa/residency process has been for you?

Good luck mate. Agree about the state of the country. Won’t be many of us left at away games soon.
Look forward to my free holiday every year.

I originally had a call with the immigration advice serve they were so helpful.
They recommend I got a wealth management expert who could advise me on tax implications etc.
He offered as part of his service to guide and support us with visa applications which is actually quite simple.
The biggest consideration for us was who to put on the application eg a family one or not.
You need proof of income eg earnings or a lump sum.
I would call the immigration advice service if you want to take the plunge. There are lots of companies who will support you with this. After 5 years we may look at applying for residency but who knows.

    All the very best, BOTN.

I left England for the first time in 1975 and made two failed attempts to live there again - the last in 1993 which lasted for two years. So, in the last nearly 50 years now, it’s been my home for just 5 1/2 years.

The main reason for moving overseas has always been for opportunities and doing something different rather than dissatisfaction with UK.

It’s always been very easy to be critical of my homeland (1975 with its 3 day weeks, power cuts and endless strikes would have been ample reason for saying ‘F*uck it, I’m off’) but I’ve felt quite strongly that it helps to try to keep a positive perspective on both the place you come from and the place where you happen to be.

The bars of the world are full of aging Englishmen drowning their sorrows together over the state of their home country and the crappy place in which they now find themselves living…

Nothing wrong with using disaffection with UK as a motivator for getting off your arris to make a move but don’t let that bitterness be the only driving force. The important point is to see both places as honestly as you can and embrace the positive about where you’re going.

It will not be easy, as others have said, however much the location is touted as a paradise, and moving there won’t solve all your problems.
