Hasn’t Morias been linked with a move away from ML?

Or Morias is in Dagenham finalising his big return?

That squad looks very sparse to me. Duisburg are in the 4th division and just got relegated. I would hope Chicksen and Slocombe would be nowhere near the starting line up next month.

The squad is a little threadbare, but pre season games should always come with a health warning. It’s always about the fitness etc… Everyone wants to win any game, but fitness and, more importantly for us right now, and spotting gaps in the squad, are more important.

I wouldn’t read in to the result today. The players have been in intense training whilst on this mini tour so won’t have been well rested.

    Last 30':

Bass, Bedeau, Macari, Aves (Y), Chicksen, Jones, Robertson, Reynolds, Adiefeh (Y), Gill (Y), McGoldrick

    So first team won 1-0
Above, with three youth, lost 3-0

60' and 30' was mentioned as the plan yesterday I think.

Plus their season starts in a week, we've still got 3 weeks of preparation and fitness to go.

Not worried about the result, more concerned by our slim squad. So no Jatta, Morias, McDonald, Tsaroulla , Austin, Edwards, Palmer , Sanderson.Robertson still on his way back. Apart from Jatta none of our other strikers have scored. We need bodies for n the building.

My thoughts as well. Lot's of energy, enthusiasm, positivity and motivational. He seems well liked in the game and Macca was full of praise for SM along with another manager as I recall when times were tough.

It was a big step up and he was finding his feet last season and for any coach coming into a new club it's going to take time. At this point he's now six months into the job, has a different squad, no LW hangover, and will have got his feet under the table and had time to implement his methods.

I think the biggest thing for me is how our new defence will gel and I am interested to see how we will play out from the back with the new defence.

I agree and people should not read anything into the result. Playing in 30 deg C heat as well is going to take it's toll towards the end even on those who may have not been on the pitch long.

For me this trip is fitness and also team bonding for those who will be on the fringes of the matchday starting 11 such as Slocombe and Chicksen for example and the youth players whom the trip will be a good experience for them mixing and playing with the senior professionals.

That's why in these kind of games a look at the bigger picture should be taken.
