I struggle to understand this as well. Our recruitment has been the best itÂ’s been for the best part of twenty years or more and we have some very talented players who have shone whilst here and moved onwards and upwards. Of course not every signing is going to be a Macca, Rodrigues, Crowley, JJ but thatÂ’s four just there. LetÂ’s not forget those like Roberts and Wootton as well and those undeniable heroes who got us out of the National League. Plus you need those who can do a job as well who make not be the stand out stars but are solid and reliable pros like Chicksen who is one of our longest serving players who helped us get where we are today and deserves respect for his service. The same goes for Austin.

IÂ’d also hope the criticism of SM can simmer as well because we should get behind him and this team. Last night for me was a turning point for him and IÂ’m really pleased for him to have gotten a performance and result like that. It could not have been easy coming into a club where the previous manager was loved by all and was a big loss. Now itÂ’s time for SM to make his mark.

One thing from last night I haven’t seen mentioned. Alex Bass. Forget that he is a good keeper. How good was his distribution?
At no point did I feel anxiety in the stands when he was playing out. The amount of times he rolled it in to midfield - last season I can guarantee that keepers tried the same but not with the accuracy of last night. His passing range and decision making were first class also.

Last night was a good result, no question.

However, before a certain section of the fanbase climb back up their ivory tower and preach about how wrong everybody has been because we actually won last night, may I point that that we have only won once in our first four matches. That is far from spectacular. It is also arguable that we've only played "also rans" thus far, and, for me, the same issues about the squad remain. I won't repeat those issues because they've been done to death.

The next few days will provide a strong indication as to where this season is going. Flog Crowley and Jones - we're stuffed. Keep them and augment the squad to meet our deficiencies - we could have a strong season. Personally, I have huge doubts about Maynard but I hope he proves me wrong.

    Let's wait and see.

Cracking win. Played well. Defence still has issues, backing off the man when running towards you, if the opponents break 3 or 4 run to the man with the ball leaving big gaps. 4 goals another day that won't go in or disallowed but will happily take anything that comes our way. SM has had a decent start. 3 league games no defeats.

The same applies to another section of the fan base, may I point out that we haven’t been defeated in the league so far.

You can’t definitively judge a team after 4 games total. You can’t judge the summer recruitment after 4 games total claiming the defence or midfield is better or worse than last season.

It’s only my opinion but I think 5 points is the least we deserve from the 3 games.

What we can judge is last nights performance and I am sure the player ratings thread will be very popular today and will accurately describe the performance last night.

One thing I am confident of is nobody who saw that game can claim it wasn’t entertaining.

Well it certainly could be a turning point - Notts now need to go on a get a few wins on the run - you could argue that we had good fortune last night - but we now must take full advantage
According to the Grimsby fan page - we are a class above- many of their fans think we are destined for play offs or automatic based on that game- only time will tell, its far to early to say based on 1 good game

It’s not a case of getting back in the ivory towers but you’re last comment was “Lets wait and see”.
You basically labelled people “club apologists” , the team was weaker and criticising RM when the so called club apologists were actually just saying “Let’s wait and see” and still are.
When you start saying there’s a group of fans on here that don’t mind if we get beat 150-0 and don’t care, unfortunately you’re going to get kickback.

So people back from injury are returning and you're saying see, it's all good. But what we on the other side are saying is that the squad depth is rubbish, you've actually proven the other argument with your comment surely? When our players are out, we don't have ethernet squad depth to compete which is what a lot of people criticising the recruitment are saying

After 4 games last season we had been spanked by a team that went on to be relegated. Lost comprehensively in the cup. Drew with a team that finished below us and the only win, just like this season, was Grimsby.

So IMO, we have started better than the class of 23/24. Also IMO, Tranmere and Fleetwood will be in and around the play offs come end of the season

You’re putting words in my mouth, all I’ve said previously is let’s see who we get in.
We’re literally 1 or 2 players off our full allocation of what we can register, whilst it’s not ideal it’s not done yet, it’s far from a disaster.
