Just to point out the owners and employees of the club had a squad of players last year that let in 80+ goals, mainly from mistakes and set pieces. We're still letting in set pieces, Grimsby, Fleetwood and Shrewsbury shows that. Mistakes are also still happening, Fleetwood and Shrewsbury for example and had Grimsby had a decent striker, they'd have had a goal from a mistake as well. The only game we were flawless defensively was Tranmere but we couldn't score in a brothel that day. Will we let in less goals, I'd like to think so, but before we start saying it was a brilliant window, let's see the results on the pitch because so far, the same issues are happening. Grimsby could have looked a lot worse had we not used up a few lifetimes of luck!

I think we’ve had a really strong transfer window, but only time will tell. If we can keep DC and JJ fit, we’ve got two of the best players in the league. Our new keeper is a big improvement on last year’s first choice (but needs to stay fit, otherwise we’re in trouble), the defence is better (not perfect, but no team goes the entire season without conceding preventable goals), and we now have plenty of options in midfield. And if Jatta keeps getting on the end of those crosses into the box, he’s going to score lots of goals this season and make us ask “Macaulay who?”

It feels to me like we’re stronger/more balanced than last season. I think we’ve only lost one player (Macca) that no one wanted to go and then Nemane which was a bit more split. The last 2 players clearly weren’t first choices but on the flipside there’s a positive where I believe we got our first choice keeper and defenders in early and working together.
The biggest intent the owners have shown is keeping JJ and Crowley, there would have been multiple bids all summer for them 2.
Hopefully a good result today, COYP.

Don’t forget anfter all the unnecessary bedwetting retaining your star players who are very much in demand and destined to go to promotion rivals or worse Mansfield also counts as the owners showing ambition.

The plan is to buy, sell for more and reinvest but just like with Rodrigues and Wootton if best for the club we won’t sell mid season

So now it’s time to ‘wait and see?’

Youth players and youth loans haven’t been overly acceptable to you.
Brown’s track record clearly doesn’t enthuse you. You’ve decreed that the squad is thin again.
You’re worried about an injury, that hasn’t happened yet, that could see us finish 14th.

But now it’s time to wait and see. Good stuff.

The club certainly talks a good game. Time will tell as to whether our results back this up.

Keeping DC/JJ - huge tick. Great job.

Selling Langstaff without bringing in quality back-up for Jatta - questionable.

In terms of issues, I feel we lack cover in goal, the defence could be shaky under pressure and the prospect of Scott leading the line is enough to give anyone nightmares.

The squad is half decent but I am concerned about our strength in depth should injuries hit our key players.

As transfer windows go - 6.5/10

I forget , how many did we score last season.we can focus on the positive aswell as a negative. However in scoring a bucket load of goals we have created a team where players were desired by many and wanted by many willing to pay hard cash. It seems creating a team built around an attacking policy has its rewards after all.

Nothing can be done now though can it so what more can you do? 😂 Does Brown excite you in the formation we play? Does having two youth players in centre midfield excite you? How about I put it this way, use the money we've spent on Hinchy and the chap from Tottenham as well as some of the "substantial" money from LW, ML and AN departures and go and get Charlie McCann. Young but proven, instead we go for options that just don't excite and feel more like Tipton than tip top

And we let go two attackers who got a lot of those goals... And before you mention Jatta, he was already here last year so he contributed last year also

Will take this 6.5 summary at face value and try to present a counter-argument:

The quality back-up for Jatta is a striker who scored 24 goals in League One just over a year ago and has spent the vast majority of his career in the top two leagues. I don’t think there’s many (any?) clubs in the league with a striker with a better record/more quality on their bench. The signing of Brown (which personally I’m not fussed about/could’ve done without) is presumably to add further cover which offsets ‘the prospect of Scott leading the line’ whilst reducing the chance of him starting on the wing again.

Similarly, how good do you realistically think we can get someone who knows they’d be coming as a back-up keeper? I’m not enamoured by the prospect of Slocombe (or Stone) being between the sticks long term but no GK who is equivalent standard to Bass is going to come to probably sit on the bench all season.

Defensive cover - starting back three of Macari, Platt, Bedeau covered by Cundy, McDonald and Ness - all proven players.

It feels like overall in terms of cover lessons have been learned from last season when injuries did leave us short in October/November.

I’m pleased you gave a ‘huge tick’ for keeping hold of Jones/Crowley though after you preemptively wasted a lot of energy criticising the club for a lack of ambition yesterday afternoon.
