What is desperate for wanting two quality players per position? You're bringing up tea ladies and being irrational...

As has been said, there’s no way that we will get a player of Jones’ ability who would just come to be a benchwarmer. If Jones gets injured we have to deal with it. Gordon, Macari possibly, Austin, Brown?

There are several new players that we haven't been able to assess yet but I think we will have cover in all key positions within a week or so. CBP's concerns are relevant but, in our case, a little too costly.
On a more personal note I also think that the stick he is getting for having an opinion (and sticking to it) is uncalled for within this collective.

with respect, wanting two Joneses, two Crowleys, two Basses etc isn't weird at all, but repeatedly criticizing an L2 club for their inability to reach that standard is a little.

You're not wrong, even though we haven't seen all of our new squad for any reasonable length of time if at all, it seems clear we don't have the quality of JJ, DC, AB in reserve.. SM addressed that to some degree in the post Swindon presser, by pointing out we've purposely signed players with a level of versatility. And I'd still say our squad is significantly better than last season, and looking well competitive for our level.

ALL L2 clubs will have similarly uneven squads. Some will have far lower quality first XI choices as well. Are you expecting too much of Notts?

Marcus Browne is available and looking for a club
He's a top player but hasn't had the best luck with injury
Might be one to look at on a deal heavily skewed on appearance money
Would be a good replacement for Nemane

I had forgotten about that route. It is the sort of thing that we have done before.
Johnny Bostock coming to train with us and then signing.
We could keep this thread going all season.
