I made a point of reading the DSA Constitution ‘line by line’ because Matt Edwards stated at the Dee4life AGM in November 2023 that the DSA constitution prevents the DSA Committee members holding meetings with any organisation who has threatened to take legal action against Dundee Football Club Limited.
This is a myth as there is nothing in the DSA Constitution dated 5th August 2023 which prevents the DSA Committee members from holding meetings with any organisation who has threatened to take legal action against Dundee Football Club Limited.
Incidentally the DSA Constitution should have read ‘to agree’ or ‘agreed’ instead of reading ‘agree’.
There were at least 60 tickets not sold for the League Cup anniversary dinner compared to the annual Player of the Year dinner.
In my opinion the management of Dundee Football Club should have ensured that the ballroom of the Invercarse Hotel was booked well in advance for Friday 15th December 2023 which was the exact date of the 50th anniversary of us winning our last major cup.
Instead they waited until it was too late with 26th January 2024 being the only date available.
I have a copy of the letter sent to all the DSA affiliated clubs on 28th November 2023 from Matt Edwards.
Included in the letter it states that “At a meeting with Jonny McInally of DFC, Davie Craig, John Burke and myself of the DSA agreed that we would take over all functions of the Dinner once Jonny McInally had agreed a few matters with the Invercarse.
The letter also stated that the DSA affiliated supporters clubs have first chance purchasing tickets for the Dinner and DFC will be able to open the sale of tickets to any Dundee FC supporter should there be any tickets left.
I am surprised that jdfc has not mentioned another topic which came up at the DSA AGM as if implemented could affect every Dundee supporter attending away games.
It was announced that one or two clubs are considering streaming their home games which would result in 530pm kickoffs.
Some people at the meeting were not bothered about a 5.30pm kickoff on a Saturday whilst others were against it
One person said that it should be a 7.45pm kick off or a 3pm kickoff.
In my opinion a 5.30pm kick off is a hopeless time.
It is too early to have your tea at 4pm before the game and not getting your tea until 8.30pm after the game is too late with no consideration being given to ‘out of town’ supporters travelling to home games.
I am surprised that the DSA affiliated supporters clubs who run buses to away games are not ‘up in arms’ about possible 5.30pm kickoffs which will mean that the supporters buses will arrive back in Dundee two and a half hours later than they normally do for a 3pm kickoff.
The Dundee v Hearts game on 10th August 2024 which kicked off at 5.30pm due to live coverage on Premier Sports resulted in a lower than normal Hearts travelling support attending the game.
As usual the management of football clubs who are thinking of introducing streaming of their home games have no consideration for the supporters handing over their money to attend home games.
I think that it was an error but the Constitution should have been proof read before it was published and signed by the DSA Chairman on 5th August 2023.
I am surprised that the none of the DSA Committee members and the secretaries of the DSA affiliated supporters clubs did not notice the error.
I was told about that.
You don't expect DFC or the DSA to bother about the majority of fans do you. 😜
Same when they were gonna do the 12.30 kick offs in winter....stupid.
If they intend to do this it should have been communicated to supporters before they bought a season tic then supporters cuda made an informed decision.
I buy mine based on the majority of kick offs will be at 3pm on a Saturday.
Lunch time dosent really suits and evening kick off dosent really appeal.....not on a regular basis.
And can we assume that the income from streaming would top trump the extra use of floodlights?
When everybody watches illegally anyway I doubt it would generate much......nae expert though
