Maybe he's not the field marshall type and saunders fills that gap for him.

If it works, great! Nobody's good at everything and I can think of many teams (in other fields) where an introverted strategist/tactician worked brilliantly with an extroverted field leader to get things done.

Personally i couldn't care less who does the team talks, We won and that is all that matters.. Ive not been a fan of SM, but he seems to have more tactical awareness from that of Williams..

2nd in the table won easily without 3 of our best players. And still people look for an angle on Maynard. Idiotic.

If we get promoted they'll find something to have a dig at him for.

Fergie never really led training, didn’t do big pre match team talks and he did ok. As the post is titled management team, he doesn’t have to do everything.

With all this said and done, at the end of last season the body language between SM and McGoldrick was awful whereas yesterday when he was subbed off, he hugged SM as the last thing he did before he got into the dugout and both had huge grins. I don’t think the players have an issue with SM and we saw that with some of the reactions after the few good results at the end of last season.

Don’t think it remotely matters either way who’s doing what. Match day is only a percentage of the work that’s done and at the minute the work being done is working.

Similar to people who get stressed out about mangers not ranting and raving and showing ‘passion’ on the touch line vs ones who simply stand and take it all in… just a proper nonsense worry.

No offence mate, but it’s not an angle on Maynard.
It was purely an observation of the mechanics of the management team.
I’ve been impressed with Maynard and the coaches. The way we’ve gone after reliable players, set up to balance the good vs the bad of Williams team for example. Defensive approach and balanced attacking is what has put us 2nd!

It’s just interesting to see who does what and how the team (coaching) operates.
At the end of the day we all know we’re now a head coach team, not a manager team so I opened this thread to see how others gauge how we work as a coaching tactic from the sideline and how Saunders needs credit for his role on game day.
