    Shrewsbury Away

I would hope we are able to get something from this fixture - it won’t be easy as they’ll be keen to get more points on the board as well. Think we have three games to show something more for our efforts and pressure. As many have said, goals we concede seem to come from a gap between defence and midfield and from failing to close down crosses from out wide. Also, it would help if we can be more clinical up front.

We need to start upping our game a notch or two

I’ve reluctantly decided to give this game a miss. It will be the first time in ages I’ve missed a game. Sick of the bull from the manager and TS.
It’s awful to watch so I’m out for this one.
Hopefully we get a decent result.

Kelly should be back for this one which is good news in one sense but bad news in another. It's becoming apparent that we are heavily reliant on a 34 year old!

We aren't brave enough at the moment to make long raking diagonal passes from midfield to either wing to stretch opposition defences. I see it at half time from one or two players practicing this but not in actual matchplay. Oh, and before I forget what about one/two touch football? Is that not allowed anymore? League 1 football has now changed. Several teams in this league will be able to play us off the park because they are braver, quicker and more composed on the ball. I couldn't have said that 8 years ago.
We have a pool of players who are more than capable of carrying out the above. Too many stray passes in the final third. Poor corner kicks.
I'll not go on as I might be here all day.
And no, I'm not an armchair supporter. Just one of the silent majority who feels that we deserve much better.
    Rant over.

    Oop the Millers!

We hear the Rotherham way a lot from Evans but that just sounds like, running around a lot and shouting. The game has moved on so much, it is worth listening to some of the younger modern coaches, like the lad at Brighton. He was at St Pauli in Germany before, I saw his team a few times and very well organised with a clear system that allowed his players to play.
Obviously I am not saying we could get such a manager, but someone that gets the modern game would help the coaching set-up.

I am not convinced Raynor inspires the players and Evans is just Stephen Fry playing the General Melchett in Blackadder. There is no real pattern or style to our game, the comments about the defence being disconnected to the midfield is so true, our forwards do not track back enough either. Basically we do not look like a team, we do not play as a team. Now that could be down to the fact the first 11 haven't had much time on the pitch together but I suspect it is about the coaching.

SE and PR rely on the experienced players to organise and run the team on the pitch and that is why we look so much better when Kelly is on. The blood and guts approach might get us a few good results in the coming weeks but it is not the right way forward. make no mistake, mumblings will increase in the posh seats if we are still in the bottom 6 after the Reading game.

Just imagine how much better this team would perform if we had kept Sam Clucas to play alongside Kelly or in his place when injured. We are talking L1 not championship here and we are talking about football intelligence and the ability to receive a ball deep and play a pass. The fact that we didn't replace Rathbone and get another midfielder in, even if not the same style is criminal by RS and the club and we are suffering big style for it. Evans comments on last day of recruitment don't stack up with what we know about SE.

I hope we turn up give them a good game and get 3 points, we need it before losing becomes a habit we can't stop.

I think these next 3 games are critical for the club, SE/PR and us the fans.

No matter what happens at Shrewsbury, win, lose or draw, we will get 1st class bull shine from our staff.

The next 3 games are crucial for the season given who we are playing. I would be amazed if we went down. Having said that, things are really not going as planned and TS will be thinking,'where do I go from here?', if 7 points are not gained from them.
