I tried to post a link from the FT about Lord Alli (it has been mentioned on here about his influence) but post went to a subscription page however if you Google "Labour MP home loan" and go three or so links down you should see the FT link straight into the page. A very unbiased article (as most FT articles are) and an insight into his work (?) with the Labour Party.

If there are further allegations around that are as precise as that, you’ve got provide a link if you want me to read about them.

But it does sound a bit desperate.

This early release scheme seems to be a right cockup! Restraining orders not logged correctly and convictions on outdated laws that the "system" doesn't recognise. When prisoner X is flagged up for early release does no one in the prison actually double check?

So you happy with all the legal donations he has received - nothing to see here and I’m desperate

The HOC records say he “rented” the property from the 29th May 2024 to the 13th July 2024.

The first GCSE exam was on the 9th May 2024 and they ended on the 19th June 2024.

So he started revising there 20 days after the exams started and continued revising 24 days after the exams finished.

Starmer borrowed a friend’s flat for his son to revise for his GCSEs at no cost to either himself or the taxpayer, and then declared it through the correct channels. You’ll have to explain again to me what exactly he’s done wrong.
There is none so blind has he who will not see.😀

He’s said he started to use the property after the election was called, because the media attention at his own house had become so intense his son couldn’t effectively prepare for his exams.

I mean it’s up to you whether you think that’s a reasonable ‘explanation’. It’s worth bearing in mind that Rishi Sunak would have had no need to borrow a property because he and his wife are so rich they’ve more than likely got multiple properties across the capital. If they had borrowed one in these circumstances it would have been fine with me and no doubt plenty of others who are pretending to be cross about it.

He needed to be given use of an £18 million penthouse Covent Garden flat for his son to revise even though his GCSE’s had started 20 days previously makes perfect sense. Him staying there revising 24 days after his exams also makes perfect sense.

But if you are happy with clothes for ministers, glasses, sports tickets, flat in New York, £ million loans, Taylor Swift concerts, use of the flats for Covid speech etc etc then I’m sure it all makes perfect sense.

Why do we need to bear in mind Mr Sunak is rich this is about millionaire Mr Starmer who is going to bring change.

I think the opinion polls show people aren’t pretending to be cross about it.

Let's face it if it was the Tories that had took the winter allowance from millions of pensioners and accepted all these freebies you would have gone into meltdown. It might not be illegal but it leaves a nasty taste in people's mouths when we are being told we will be hit hard financially very soon.
It's early days of this government and as EP says judge them in 4 years time so let's see.
