Call me old fashioned if you like but I preferred the days of replays, second replays on neutral grounds and semi finals not at Wembley. But then the FA cup doesn’t seem have much kudos nowadays.

I just realized that this is the case going forward.... https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2024...one-away-with/
Around €3million in extra prize money is being awarded in the first three rounds of this season's FA Cup to help compensate clubs for the loss of replays.
England's Football Association announced in April it was scrapping replays from the first round proper in the current campaign onwards as the domestic game seeks to tackle fixture congestion created by the expansion of international tournaments such as UEFA’s competitions.
The FA insisted at the time it would seek to compensate clubs for the loss of revenue generated by replays, which have been a traditional mainstay of the competition.
There will be an extra €911,000 of prize money available in round one, €671,000 in round two and €1.35million in round three, with fees also being paid to losing clubs for the first time.
First-round winners will bank €54,000, up from €50,000, and losers will get €18,000.
The prize pot in round two has increased to €2.3m, and second-round winners will now receive €90,000, up from €81,000. Teams losing in round two will receive €24,000.
In the third round the prize fund now stands at €5.4m, with winning teams receiving €138,000 instead of €126,000, and losing teams receiving €30,000.

All because of pandering to the Champions,2nd,3rd , 4th and won't be long 5th place league .
Bring back the European Cup.
Always love going to FA cup games.
Most of the w mids local clubs are out I think.
Can only hope that Albion have a home draw or have an easy away fixture to progress and then have a home draw.
I love listening to the draw ( that is until were knocked out, and then I hate it).
Surely getting rid of the league cup would have made more sense?
It's rather a pointless competition these days. The small clubs really are not going to benefit from this. Such a shame for the sport.
The League Cup should be played during July and early August Dubs, it would be far more useful than endless, meaningless pre season friendlies.
Most teams play 7 or 8 friendlies anyway so just replace them and have a proper competition.
In the 70’s we had the Watney Cup and Texaco Cup pre season and those got well supported.
In fact, the Texaco Cup included the Scottish teams and I like that idea.
Thats a good idea actually. I remember the Leland Fleet wood paint competition we were in one year....think that was when we took the drop below this league in it's old reincarnation. I also agree with Soulman...go back to old European cup competition.
I dislike immensely these games where upon you get hammered a few times but are still not knocked out.
Not in the line of sportsmanship...
The concept of ‘sport’ and ‘sportsmanship’ was taken from th are long ago, the Premier League is testament to that. The arrival in England of American and Arab owners continued the process, as money making is their sole objective. Then, of course, there are FIFA and UEFA, where corruption is endemic (allegedly) and the people that run those organisations are, it appears, in bed with aforementioned ‘big’ club owners. Just look at some of the ticket prices in the Premier League, outrageous! Then you have the likes of Sheffield Wednesday charging fans £39 to be herded into dilapidated old shack of a stand. Can’t say that the game has gone to the dogs but it has certainly gone too far to the rich.
