I find it astonishing a player that probably 90% of Notts fans said was the worst loss possible last season and now after some rusty performances after a very serious injury is now not good enough for us?
One thing he isn?t is conservative/safe, the amount of times he takes the ball off the keeper and defence under pressure takes a lot of courage and gets us moving and whilst the passes look easy, their not and to consistently pass the ball the amount of times as he does accurately, he makes look easy, but again it isn?t.

Tbf there?s been a lot worse said about players by some on here and to everyone?s knowledge earlier in the season most thought Scott was physically and mentally well.

Funnily enough, the same was said of Dan Crowley recently! To me your post shows a lack of understanding about what Matty Palmer offers. You seem to want him to play the killer pass that puts us in on goal, but that was never his strength even before his injury. What he did was to link play superbly. He will always be available for a pass, take us from defence to attack, then give the ball to the creative players like Jones and Crowley. It's a bit silly to expect him to fill their boots. He's not back to where he used to be yet, but in my opinion he's getting there.

Out of interest, who would any of his critics pick to replace him?

Palmer took a couple of weeks to get back up to speed, but he?s just being him now. What he does just looks a lot less progressive and useful when there?s so little going on ahead of him.

I think some fans are getting confused about Palmers role in the team. He's never been that creative midfielder but he is the one that links the defence to the attacking midfielders. Has someone said he's always available. I think you will see him at his best when we get the likes of Jones and Crowley back but the latter must be allowed to play further forward.

Totally agree, he's better when he has more options in front of him, I'd try Tsaroulla out wide and give young Cisse a start because we are looking toothless at the moment with a lack of movement in front of Palmer.

There was a moment against Newport when they broke and one of their players was running as fast as he could to join the attack until Cisse, cruised passed him, effortlessly to get back and the Newport player immediately stopped running, the lad is quick!

I believe I know his main role in the team, the type of player he is. He links defence to attack with commonly short accurate passes. He is Brilliant at it. He takes the ball off defenders under pressure. None of that has changed he was just slowly getting back up to speed. The effectiveness is always going to look better when he can keep supplying Crowley Jones and McGoldrick but when most or all aren?t ahead of him he should adapt his game. Just like Maynard needs to without those creative players available.

If it?s not happening ahead of him if their replacements are not making it happen then he needs to be ambitious on the balls with his passing and carrying the ball. To me it?s stood out like a sore thumb this season. He?s got the ability, he?s a top player for this level. When we haven?t got Crowley we need him to be a little more like Crowley and not be as safe and conservative with his passing and movement.

Wonder If JJ & Dan will get the negative comments if they don't perform as they did pre injury, straight away
