On Saturday he was close to my MOTM, yet he was receiving ratings of 5 - 5.5. I know ratings are subjective but that was never a 5/10 performance, he literally ran the show?.allowing Abbott to play with a bit more freedom?..exactly how having Palmer in the team let Bostock play his game better, look how his form dipped without Matty.

He doesn?t need to do anything different, he needs better players in front of him.
But we can?t change that currently. If we had Jones and Crowley playing ahead of him then I concur he does not have to do anything different.

But that is like saying Maynard should not adapt his teams approach with all that creativity missing from the starting lineup.

Match ratings are very scarce but Palmer received 5 and 5.5 he also received 6 and 7. People viewed it differently. I wouldn?t say he ran the show would have given him a 6 myself with Abbott higher. They are developing a good understanding and compliment each other. The low scores for Palmer were probably due to him being too safe and conservative whilst knitting the play without those creative talents ahead

To anyone suggesting Matty Palmer might not be worth his place, I would ask who should take it? The only central midfield option we had on the bench against Newport was Jack Hinchy.

Does anyone see him as the solution?

To see how limited our options in midfield were on Saturday, here are the four starting midfielders from our 4-1 win against Grimsby in August:

    Crowley, Edwards, Grant, Robertson.

Hinchy came on for SR after 25 minutes and Palmer came on for Grant after 68 minutes. Scott replaced Edwards on 76 mins.

If we ever get everyone fit (and I think Robertson had been a big miss, offering a little more robustness in the middle of the park), I still expect Matty Palmer to be one of the first names on the team sheet.

I'm not sure Robertson and Robustness go together...he always seems to be injured.

It?s all good debate and natural / subjective, reminds me of the united fans differing views on Michael Carrick, some thought he was absolutely fundamental to the team, some couldn?t understand why he got picked at all.

I'm pretty sure that us humble posters only have the option to delete or edit within 10 or so minutes of making the post. The only one who can do it historically is the moderator, and that wouldn't happen in this case.

So back to you durham, you should either find the post or apologise.

That’s true, certainly this season. He missed a lot of pre-season and has never really caught up. I’m not even sure what the latest injury is.

I dont forget posts like that, especially when it was against a player that i happen to rate.. He knows what he said, and it was just before Scott came out with the mental illness story..

I am trying to help you out here Durham.
Somebody did say he was only proven at non-league but I don't think it was AC.
