Not sure if the link will work.
    Useless at putting links up.
    Article is from early July.
Basically says Humphreys and Hugill could have walked away on relegation to League 1.
Does anyone think that with the wages they are on, they wouldn't have got anywhere near them had they moved elsewhere. Hence why they stayed put. Nothing to do with loyalty at all. It's all about the muneeeeeeee!

I think Humphreys would have gone to Derby if they had come in for him.
Surely no-one will be daft enough to match Hugill's wages which probably means we'll be stuck with him for the foreseeable unless we pay him up ☹️.

When someone leaves like this, we have 2 options. Pay him up on an agreed amount, usually less than his contracted wages times months left.
Or, for example; player is on 8 grand a week, we agree to pay, maybe 3 grand towards it over the contracted period remaining.

How long is Hugill contract for? People ask for evidence that PD isn’t up to the job, well we now know from Evan’s and Warne before him that PD is a major player in these contracts, what more evidence do people need, a under cover camera video of him approving these contracts.

The only surprise would be if Paul Douglas was not involved in contract negotiations.

The issue that I take with those who have decided that Douglas 'lacks football knowledge' etc. is the notion that he is solely responsible for contract negotiations or that he is equipped with a crystal ball that ensures that only players who are popular and/or successful are signed on long contracts.

PD doesn’t make the final decision can’t you understand that ? He brokers a deal presents the figures to the board and Tony then asks the manager are you sure you want this ? and if he says “ I do “ then Tony’s backs him or not !!
Stop moaning about Douglas, he does his job otherwise big Tony would have moved him on by now ?

He's only mentioned it 30 times. We have at least another 20 mentions to go.

Gross under estimation. He's been waiting for SE to mention PD in any form so he could jump on.
