It seems he has by reports on internet a release clause of around ?500K, so its down to whether Eustace wants to come.
We triggered the clause it seems. Blackburn have, very reluctantly it would seem looking at their club statement yesterday, granted him permission to speak to Derby. Their statement will, IMO, do more to encourage the lad to leave than to stay.

It seems he wasn't happy with what Rovers had to say when they met after training yesterday. Now we'll have to wait and see what David Clowes can offer him in terms of transfer budget etc.

Lancashire Telegraph says he’s left Blackburn and joined us. He cites lack of investment and ambition on behalf of the owners. They’re sixth and brought in quite a few during January. Makes me wonder if he knows something we don’t about imminent investment at Derby.

Anyway, if true, we should all get behind him. Always impressed me as a player. What he lacked in mobility he made up for with commitment and intelligence.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Cooper step into his shoes at Ewood which should add some spice to what’s already looking like a crucial encounter for both clubs next month.

They've bought in 6 players in January but 5 are only short term to the end of the season, make of that what you will but January is always a difficult window so maybe they're keeping their powder dry till June for proper investment, maybe JE heard enough promises and has seemingly decided to walk away?

Sitting just inside the play off spots so one would assume there would be a desire to make reasonable efforts to strengthen the squad to support a push for promo. Short term loans keep your options open, provides cover to the end of the season but no commitment for next season though not necessarily improving certain areas of the squad. As you say Stenson Jan a tricky window.

Either way if there is a rift between Eustace and the Venkys it could be something that's built up over time. We'll likely never know but if he comes he may need to appoint Houdini as his assistant to get us out of the do do we're in!

Though the team sit sixth in the table, they have invested circa ?3.5million in the last two transfer windows on permanent additions, having recouped around ?30m from the sales of Sam Szmodics and Adam Wharton. JE asked for assurances for future recruitment investment and a contract extension, he got neither.

Basically, they pi ssed him off. He then decided to speak to Derby.

The majority of their fans are blaming the Venkys and saying they understand exactly why JE is going.

That sounds like solid club ownership to me - not something particularly associated with the Venky regimein the past few years! Sell two prized assets from a team more touted as relegation targets at start of season, buy cheap and find themselves in the promotion battle. Besides which they need to make some money to bail themselves out of problems back home, and fans need to be aware of this "risk" when new ownership from overseas comes in. Not exactly a Chris Kirchner but.... I dont remember too much wailing when the chicken shop magnates saved the club following the Jack Walker era and cleaned up much of the massive debt it was in.

Its a salutory lesson now when things go wrong, not all the glisters is gold - especially when from Pune.

Eustace meant to be announced as new manager/head coach before tonight’s match.

Hope he doesn’t have to do a Steve McClaren - against Ipswich 12 years ago (?) - and burst into the dressing room at half time to overturn a 0-3 deficit.

Me too, was 4-1 wasn't it at half time? Although it was great entertainment. Interestingly though who was brought on at half time in that game and probably the best player on the pitch 2nd half?

Don't be pessimistic! We are not cut adrift and have a decent squad, Eustace just needs to get the gaols flowing again and we will be alright.
