This thread kind of encapsulates the club we all support when so many say they are happy with mid table mediocrity.
It does make you wonder "what's the point of it all?"
I guess we'll get a clue when season ticket renewals are due.

The point of it all is spending an afternoon watching the sport I love with my son and grandkids. I don't get involved in all the politics of it
I'm happy when we win, disappointed when we lose. It's sport at the end of the day. No one dies.
What's the point of it all for you mellow?

Unfortunately Mr Evans signed lots of below par players who will linger on next year. JCH, Raggett, Kelly, James, Rafferty etc are not going to improve, they are going to get worse. I think this time next year Paul Warne will be getting his feet under the table again with his sidekick. I don't particularly want it as I think there are German coaches out there who will be better. I just think it will happen and second time round rarely works as we are discovering now and probably will again

Well I've done all that for 70 years now and have also taken both my son and grandson to Wembley for play off finals which is something I never thought I'd do.
In all that time there have been highs and lows, that's the nature of football, but I've found the last few seasons increasingly depressing and so many people I've known for years have just stopped going.
Presumably they've found better, more interesting things to do with their lives?
If people are happy watching turgid, pointless football that will achieve nothing at the end of the season that's fine. It's their choice and it's not for me to criticise.
Personally I prefer us to be more competitive and to challenge for something tangible.
Isn't that the point of it all?

Artell the man can't fault job he's doing at Grimsby. Get him in with enough time to sort out mess that's been made of this season. Kelly Mcdonald out of contract end of the season 1st 2 to go. JCH Raggett loan then out whoever wherever will have them a less combative level.

JCH & Raggett both signed to boost their private pension pot
Only way they will go, is by coming to a agreement on a payout on their contracts.

    Anyone remember season 1972/73?

I still have nightmares about it.

Oh crikey yes - haunts me from time to time as well. I was only thinking about it the other day when I was looking at our table position our paper, thin squad and recent results. Nobody is too good to go down

I can't see Warne coming back Tiger. Mind you I said last March that TS will stick with LR so he can build in the Summer! There's a bit of speculation in the press today about Warne returning.I just think it's an obvious headline. I could see Warne at somewhere like Posh or even Huddersfield if they don't go up this year.Barnsley would be another good shout if they don't improve.

Finishing mid table doesn't really bother me, it worries me how we've ended up there. The stubborness of SE/PR not to change things when it was so poor. You could see with who SE signed in the summer that there was no long term plan to get out of the division and think of the Championship.

SE said yesterday that at half time he changed the formation and we played better. Why didn't we change it about September then?
TS will see a big change in the summer with Season ticket renewals, how will he react to it is anyones guess............
