Don't get me wrong he was just what we needed to get bacl to the EFL. The same as Cotterill was to get us promoted, a case of the right manager for the players we had.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up, and how he gets on. I dont think there will be too many clubs knocking on his door..

I wonder if he might take a number 2 role higher up the pyramid rather than drop down to be the main man.

One site saying Maynard is 8/1 to take over

Yes he'll probably end up coaching somewhere, like Burchnell before him - though I believe IB is also unemployed at the moment. It's almost as if jumping up two divisions for more money isn't all it's cracked up to be. I wonder if Macca would agree.

I hear she was the reason Williams always performed so badly in the cup ties

It's all conjecture but I think Williams would have done better last season if given the same support Maynard had in January and better than Maynard this season too if last summer's recruitment was followed. Would I want him back? No.

I can see being our manager one day. Our owners really liked him.

I have to agree, I think Williams would tear up this division with this squad but he's already shown he's looking elsewhere and didn't want to grow with us so probably end of the journey

I don't really go with this notion that he was disloyal to us - he earned his chance by attracting the attention of a higher league club, and the reasons given for leaving may or may not have been a case of diplomatic language, but were not out of the ordinary. If he had said he was going because Swansea were a bigger club offering a lot more money, that wouldn't have gone down well either with some! We've since moved on, out of necessity, but I certainly don't bear LW any grudge and I wouldn't have wished this outcome for him. I'm sure another job will come along in due course though.
LW is the manager who took the club back to where it belongs so it's sad that some fans seem to be bitter just because he left to go to Swansea. He has a family to support just like a lot of people and it's a job. So if the opportunity to work closer to home with more money comes up why not take it? He could still have loved it at Notts and saying that could have been genuine.

For many younger fans the promotion winning season was the best season they have seen regardless of the fact it was in the fifth tier. It doesn't make it any less special it's football at the end of the day whatever the level. I will never forget the memories of so many wins, the battle with Wrexham, amazing football, the Boreham Wood semi final comeback, and the Wembley trip culminating in Scotts penalty followed by the celebrations. Fantastic and incredible memories that will last a lifetime.
