Pre the US elections, I said, in a discussion on another platform, that I hoped Trump didn't get in, I might have also posted it on here too but can't be bothered to check. My reasoning was based on his apparent liking of Putin that he'd commented on previously. I said that Trump would be Putin's bitch and cave in, giving him all he wants. Fast forward to today and what is happening? Before negotiations have even started, Trump has said: a) no NATO membership for Ukraine b) no return to pre 2014 boundaries, so no giving back of occupied land c) he's blaming Ukraine for starting the war d) he says Zelensky is an unelected dictator (you could argue the unelected bit if you're pedantic as his term in office should have ended in May 2024 but nobody is going to have an election when you are fighting to save what's left of your country).

When I find the discussions on the other platform, I will most certainly be posting "I told you so"

One thing I feel certain about, we were questioning if Trump would live to see the next election, I feel sure hes going to out live Zelensky.
Amongst all the doom and gloom let’s not forget that, thankfully, Trump doesn’t really have four years.
It’s less than two years to the mid term elections in 2026 which will most likely see his power diluted. The balance of power is quite likely to change by then and, despite concerns to the contrary, the Republicans are likely to be preoccupied from then on with who will be their next Presidential candidate.
At the moment he is at his most powerful (and dangerous) but the US system does provide constraints.

Well most sentient people knew Trump basically talks *******s but his latest utterings ae clearly those of a deranged or senile old man. Unfortunately this deranged senile old bloke is currently "in charge" of one of the most powerful nations in the world, still I guess we will get on fine with the Chinese!!

You're right. The last one was a senile, blubbering idiot as well, who didn't even know the pathway back to the white house either.
For now, this one doesn't have a minder chasing him across the lawn before he gets lost. But some folks said Biden was a lot safer

Lol…yep, the last one occasionally got names mixed up and was clearly suffering from an age related condition, but at least he knew who the dictator was and who started the war.
Neither fit for office, but at least Biden didn’t come across as a power crazed sociopath who regularly contradicts himself.

What for laughing at a complete moron? That you feel was a decent option?

President Joe Biden has mistakenly said "Iraq" when meant "Ukraine" twice in the last day.
On Tuesday night, he referred to the "onslaught on Iraq" at a fundraiser in Maryland.
On Wednesday morning, he said Putin is "clearly losing the war in Iraq."

Speaking at a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, he said: ‘In the coming days we’re going to join with our friends in Jordan and others who are providing airdrops of additional food and supplies’ and will ‘seek to open up other avenues in, including possibly a marine corridor’.

But on two occasions Biden – the oldest person to become president in US history – said the drops would happen in Ukraine, leaving White House officials to explain that he meant to say Gaza.

"And now I want to hand it over to the President of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination - ladies and gentlemen, Mr Putin," he said.

Realising his error as he prepared to walk away, Biden quickly turned back to the mic to clear things up.

"President Putin? He's gonna beat President Putin," he said.

"President Zelensky. I'm so focused on beating Putin, we have to worry about it."

Nope, as you well know, for ridiculing conditions which sometimes accompany those suffering from dementia and, if you look really carefully (as in read the first post of this thread), you’ll see I didn’t think he was a ‘decent option’. I just thought it was a lousy choice between someone who was too old and a narcissistic sociopath with a criminal record.

It's horrible if you are suffering from, at best, the affects of aging, or at worst and more likely dementia or related condition.

I've witnessed first hand family and friends who have done so it's not something to make fun of.

My Grandma suffered from dementia and as tricky lightheartedly says she wet and **** herself, its not funny, it's horrible and sad for everyone involved.

Personally I don't get why ageism is still acceptable while other isms aren't. We all get old ,we hope, chances are most of us will **** and piss ourselves. If we do we will still carry more dignity than those looking for laugh by attempting to ridicule us.
