Up to 7 CL teams from the Prem

Next season we could see up to 7 Premiership teams in the Champions League.

If the current teams do well in all European competitions, then there is a very good chance we would get one of the extra two spots for League finishes.

Additional spots could be given to?

Spurs or Man Utd if the win the Europa
Chelsea, if they win the Conference League, would go into the qualifying stage for the Champions League.

Both competitions offer ADDITIONAL spots, they don?t take them from the domestic 4/5.

Obviously I?m not keen on Man Utd winning anything, and not keen on Spurs or Chelsea doing well either 🤣, but by doing well they increase our chances by increasing the overall points and helping provide that 5th league spot.

Obviously UEFA will change those rules for next season if it happens? but that wouldn?t impact this season? and if 7 make it, then we could have an even better chance of getting the extra spot next year.

They'll change it as soon as they realise we're in with a shout...

Without a shadow of a doubt. . . although it's less UEFA and more prem.

It's basically what happened with German teams this year in Europ comps, think they ended up with top 9 of Bundesliga in European comps.

I believe there was a limit of how many clubs could enter CL from one country?
May be its different now - saw opposite views on that.

Also Conf League winner goes to Europa League - Olympiacos won it prev year and was in Europe League.

My worry is - if there is a cap, say 5 teams per country - then if manure or spurs win europe, could it be that 5th will go to europe league regardless?

I'm not sure how it works with the new Swiss Model competition and entry.

However, Does anyone actually see the Filth or Spurs winning anything?

They've lost their fans, the will win nothing.

Chelsea have totally lost form and aren't scoring goals.

It's in interesting proposition regarding 7 clubs. In the UCL. What is clear is that we need to finish top 5 to lock in our place regardless of what other shenanigans unfold

Yes, this is true. Fifth place or better is essential then we are there on merit and no twisting of "rules or regulations" can unseat us.

It won't be clear until it's all over.

On radio they were saying that used to be the rule but it got changed when format of CL changed.

Yep, it changed when they introduced the new extended format.

7 clubs could potentially be in it from the Prem.

Which is somewhat ironic seeing as we didnt make any european competition by finishing 7th last season.

Yes that was unfortunate, but the thing is that the new rules don't make it seven entries but up to seven entries. which in effect means 5,6 or 7, but not more than seven.
