SBRed Match Thoughts Charlton Athletic v Barnsley

This is one of the most difficult match thoughts threads I've ever done in light of us losing our dear friend SB .

The match seems unimportant but I guess life has to go on .

I suspect a draw tomorrow evening wouldn't be the worst outcome at a ground we've rarely done well at .

Yes Animal the pre match thoughts pale into insignificance in the wake of our departed friend.

I think the most apt summing up would be that there are no words to say on the game itself.

It would be very apt however, if the Reds could pick up a win for SB on Tuesday night- he would support the players even though his grievance was always with the board of directors since the 2017 takeover.

Barry was life long follower of the Reds for 60 odd years through thick and thin and the blowk certainly deserves a send off victory.

    Do it for Barry lads

Tonight's game seems to be the make or break game for the play off's with teams above us either playing each other or having a difficult fixture.
My thoughts will be with SB throughout though!

Just read that Gent is out for the season with an achilles injury so we need Farrugia to be fit.

As for tonight, the outcome might depend on which Barnsley turn up. If its the Charlton brothers bossing centre midfield and central defence were in with a shout but if its the Chuckle brothers as per the previous few games, especially in centre defence, then it could be a long night.

SBRed48 - Team Line Up from The Valley.

    SMITH
    RUSSELL
    ROBERTS
    O'KEEFFE
    PHILLIPS
    McCARTHY
    FARRUGIA
    EARL
    KEILLOR-DUNN
    HUMPHRYS
    CONNELL C

    SUBS
    FLAVELL, BENSON, LEMBIKISA, BARRATT.

Two changes from the win over Lincoln on Saturday. Luca Connell, back from suspension, and the fit-again Neil Farrugia replace Kelechi Nwakali, and the injured Georgie Gent.

Three straight wins has really kept the season alive for us. 👍
But we can't really afford to lose games from now on, and this especially means tonight.
Charlton are a good form team and I would certainly have accepted a point, if given the chance.
We need something positive from the 2nd half!.
