News this morning that Trump is pausing all US aid to Ukraine as Russia continues it's assault to take more territory.

Trump has been demanding that Europe does more of the heavy lifting in terms of aid and it is now belatedly beginning to do so and he calls European leaders "good guys" for their efforts but refuses still to provide any "backstop". In the light of continued Russian aggression, a Trump spokesman even had the gall to say that the pause was a chance to "review" and that it would "contribute to a solution" for peace. Yep, because if it allows Putin a little more time to seize yet more territory, he may be happier to settle then.

Trump's latest reaction is like a petulant child throwing a tantrum because his bullying ambush of Zelensky has attracted criticism not only from abroad, but increasingly at home and he probably got miffed at Zelensky getting to meet Charles before he does. And, all the time, the consequences of his actions lend credence to those who accuse him of siding with Putin. Klanmom, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and a host of other sycophants may be full of praise for their orange leader's actions but they aren't playing well outside of the MAGA crowd.

Without US backing Russia will undoubtedly thieve more Ukrainian land. I would consider that Ukraine may be unwilling to sign any contract for American appropriation of their valuable minerals and therefore, leave the door open for Russia to steal it for themselves, which in turn might well come back to bite the American nation on its butt.

I do wonder what the planet Trump lives on, actually looks like!

The USA made a profit from WW2 , after waiting 2 1/2 years to join the fight .
They will end up with a deal in their favour for the mineral's .

It will be interesting to see how this Ukraine war unfolds.

But what will be especially interesting is what happens when Trump's presidential term comes to an end. Will he try to stay on? We live in unprecedented times and anything is possible.

I also applaud Starmer for the way he's handled Trump. I think he's done exceptionally well in foreign policy and affairs since being PM.

China's next step could be interesting. They're keeping nice and quiet while Vance and Trump distance themselves from their allies at the same time as China continues to build airstrips in the sea having largely revamped their military and spending years developing links abroad through investment in infrastructure.

As for Russian interest in Ukrainian mineral deposits this is nothing new. It was always likely to be a primary driver of events in 2014 despite what they said about ethnicity and loyalties in the Donbas. It must have been gnawing away at Putin since the Soviet Union's demise, much more so than the loss of a physical territorial buffer zone from the west.

I have to agree on this one 123. I must admit that I am not a great lover of Starmer and his national politics but, in this case, I think he is doing a tremendous job on trying to unite everyone in this dreadful conflict.

While I commend the countries who are backing Ukraine I do take issue with them being so polite to Trump. He is a scum bag and a bully and what bullies hate is being confronted. The leaders of all these countries should be honest and tell him what they really think of him. I do not think that they have anything to lose as the US have now withdrawn military backing for Ukraine.

Putin welcomes this move. Of course he does. It will not be long before the hammer and cycle flag is flying from the White House. Trump is not only an obnoxious human being but a traitor to boot. Where are the assassins when you need them?
